Hello! so first off i am a new bunny owner of two adorable bunnies and have done many researching and watching video explainations however nothing can ever defeat irl scenarios. Considering the location, it is more likely related to something moisture-driven, such as drool from the mouth (common when dental irritation occurs) or soaked chin from drinking water facilitating a fungal infection/fur loss in general.

We got some atbx and meloxicam for pain. They also send an ointment for her. They don’t recommend an e collar since the location of the wound is on her neck. If wound and URI does not improve after two weeks, I might consider a surgery for that dewlap that they suggest.

    Hello everyone,

I have noticed bald spots around my rabbits chin and mouth areas. He is a 9 year old male rabbit, and it has never happened before. I first noticed the balding spot under his chin, but upon further…

ok, thanks! And that makes sense, it’s mostly a problem when we are doing trick training (so he is definitely anticipating treats). I tried training them separately this morning, keeping him in the carrier at first, but he was even more aggressive towards her when I let him out for him time. She is unfortunately harder to handle and get into the…[Read more]

As some may know I adopted Nellie in May. She was rescued from living in a single hutch with 4 other female rabbits (all unspayed!) in rather unsanitary conditions… Poor thing. She is about 5/6 years old so has had many years to develop all kinds of possible issues that come from poor care, she also likely got little to no hay.

    I’ve always…[Read more]

Bam made some good suggestions. I’m glad you are able to take her to a different vet so she can be seen sooner.

The cartilage that supports their ears can be damaged too. Nerve damage or inflammation that puts pressure on the nerves can also cause an ear to droop. But… I think the most likely scenario here is a little lop got mixed into the bloodline.

Is there anything I can do to help him heal? The dad bun isn’t a Lop, neither is the mom, I have also seen the ears in Lop bunnies and his looks just flopped. My mom also informed me that apparently he was in a weird position while feeding and after he finished is when we noticed the flopped ear, it was also red at the base but no other type o…[Read more]

Her face is the first thing i checked when she started drooling but it’s perfectly symmetrical. Also I’ve tried the water bottle but she refused to drink from it so we are back to the bowl. And i don’t know what miracle is happening but she suddenly stopped drooling. I think this all happened because 5 days ago she had hay stuck in her fur right…[Read more]

Food aggression is not unheard of in bonded pairs– some rabbits get especially tunnel-visioned and “crazed” around food. In some cases, the best course of action is a short separation barrier during feeding presentation times and then just removing the barrier once the food is consumed. Also, trying to cut down on the anticipatory energy is…[Read more]

Agreed with @Bam — “breaking” their ears is not really something we see with rabbits as opposed to them injuring their ears, resulting in a change in its shape/composition.

I’ve seen droopy ears associated with malnutrition, and it can occur if there is an ear infection in the “lopped” ear.

I will mention that, unless you 100% know the father,…[Read more]

    Hi,

We adopted a second bun (male) about 10 months ago. The bonding process went smoothly with our original girl, who is more shy and probably the submissive one. We followed all the recommended bonding steps, and within a month or so they were living together full time. Grooming, snuggling, eating together etc. They have never fought. He has…[Read more]

Yes, she is not happy about the collar. I got another appointment for tomorrow from a different clinic.

    Thank you so much!

It’s great that she’s eating and pooping!

She might become very cross with you for having to wear a paper collar, but it is necessary that she cant hurt herself more, and she mustnt lick off the neosporin. It’s not toxic or anything, but it needs to stay on the sore to have effect.
