That’s an interesting idea actually, I might do that, if anything just because I know she does love grass. I looked into that water additive and I’m not sure it would work. I read comments on there saying it makes the water taste like bleach. š I felt bad thinking of making her water taste bad. That stuff (the body and waste odor eliminator) is a…[Read more]

Hello- Max is about 1.5 years old. Recently weāve noticed that one of his ears occasionally falls. Itās usually when he is stretched out, layingā¦is this cause for concern or is it normal? If itās normal, what does it mean? Ā His mom was a huge bunny with lop-like ears and his dad looks a lot like him. Ā Thank you!

Can you get grass seeds and grow your own indoors?

It does sound like it could be “honking”! My bun sounds like a little pig when he honks… more like an “oink” lol

Would the straw be just for bedding? I think most people just use extra timothy hay so they have food as well. Either way, I would look for a local feed shop where you could buy a bale.

No, they would still fight — even two fixed rabbits will fight if they are incompatible. To maximize the likelihood and stability of a bond between two rabbits, both rabbits need to be at least 1mo post-spay/neuter and they should go through a bonding process, which may take a couple weeks to months. There are some matches that are incompatible…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Do you wet your horse/wood litter or keep it pelleted? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 9 months ago
I put a very fluffy layer of hay on top of the pellets for my buns to make them easier on their feet. I use a screen as well (under the hay), but that’s more for ease of cleaning.

Hmmm how long have they been bonded? Sometimes in a newly bonded pair the habits get worse for a while and then gradually improve.
What type of flooring do you have around? Sometimes buns (especially females) will pee on anything soft. I had one bun that could not have any blankets or beds of any kind because she would just pee on them!
If you…[Read more]

I’m just wondering if it would be better to get another male bunny a neutered one to go with my un-neutered bunny to keep him company or would they fight?

Hi everyone,
I have two rabbits (free roam) one male (Percy) and one female (Minnie) Iāve had Percy just over a year and heās been neutered. He originally lived alone and took to using a Litter box straight away. Around 4 months later I brought Minnie home, I kept them separate for a month for her to settle in and then bonded them slowly, she was…[Read more]

That was what made me eventually get my bunny a grated box – she would lay in her litter all the time (she was free roam and could go anywhere, yet she just loved to lay in her litter.) I kept having to get her sanitary shaves at the vet, her backside was always getting gunked up, it was a real problem.
One litter that seemed really soft and…[Read more]

A grated litter box is a good idea! His backside has been getting dirtier than usual lately because he tends to sit/lay in his litter box sometimes. I do want to try something softer first but Iāll keep this in mind if all else fails. I just bought a special litter box with a lower 3ā high opening so that he doesnāt have to jump into it and it wa…[Read more]

What I have done is use a grated litter pan, and put the horse stall pellets beneath it (on top of an absorbant pee pad). I have really found a grated litter pan works well for my bun, because 1. it doesn’t hurt her feet and 2. she isn’t walking on her own dirtied litter. I use one called arm & hammer sifting litter cat box – however, it has…[Read more]

I know for horses they put water into the bag to turn the litter into a sawdust consistency. Would that be okay for bunnies? If anyone has tried it, is it as absorbent? I just took my bun to the vet yesterday and they said he possibly has arthritis so Iām frantically trying to accommodate for it, and I feel like the litter in pelleted form is p…[Read more]

Some bunnies are just very vocal. He could be grunting or honking. Neither is exclusively a “bad” sound. Some bunnies just make noises when they are very excited? Is he neutered?
