So what I’m actually going to do is a combination of two different things, known as Bicillin. So it is Penicillin G Benzathine/Penicillin G Procaine combined together. I’ve heard about it combined with Azithromycin I did have to discontinue that one on Budja’s though due to the poopy butt.
This was a study I had read on the idea.…[Read more]

Hi Binky Bunny community!
I am wondering if anyone has tips on managing hock sores. My bunny developed hock sores that have since healed but I am aware that once a bunny gets hock sores it is difficult for the fur to ever regrow and it is likely to become a reoccurring issue. Of course, I would like to prevent this as much as possible!
With that…[Read more]

It doesn’t look concerning to me. At least not how it looks right now. Nothing wrong with waiting to see if the fur grows back. It could just be molting.

Yes, one bunny is only top bun if the other one accepts it. Sometimes they both think they are the dominant one.

Aww! Congrats on the new baby! Yes, young bunny energy is definitely different than that of an older rabbit. Luckily, some of this stuff will resolve itself with time.
I do agree that sometimes it’s best to start them out in a smaller area. It does help them feel more secure and less anxious.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Thank you both for the responses! And great ideas, I didn’t ever think about putting grass mats along the walls 🤔. Keeping her nest area nearby during playtime is a good idea too. We moved her downstairs from my room to the kitchen today, she was perfectly fine and leaped at the chance to come out and explore. We t…[Read more]

It doesnt look alarming to me. A rabbit sheds at a minimum twice per year, more often if the bun is desexed. In warm parts of the world, continous shedding is not rare.
Monitor appetite, poop, activity level and interest in the environment. If you see inappetence and/or a decrease in fecal output, obviously make s vet appointment.

Thank you so much! I feel much better now and i’ll for sure keep an eye open for her! I’ve noticed it’s a bit flaking and sometimes a small like snot piece of hair can be easily take from her face. Even if she’s playing, eating, pooping and peeing normally, i’ll take your advice and see a vet asap, i’m just so worried it can get worse without…[Read more]

I’m glad you are going to try the pen G. Some have had luck by combining that with an oral antibiotic. It may not cure the abscess completely though, just shrink it to a manageable size.

They said it would be about 20.00 a month, that’s not bad at all, I did ask about extra syringes to have on hand just in case. Thank you I really appreciate that. They are looking into ordering the combination product for me!! I did ask about putting saline into the solution as I read it can cause a burning sensation for the rabbit? I’m not 100%…[Read more]

I think you could monitor this for now. Rabbits shed their whiskers and the hair around them same as other hair. If the skin is smooth and uncompromised, this could be normal shedding. It’s great that youre being vigilant though, rabbits need vigilant humans.
If you see scabs, flaking, excessive redness etc in the area, it warrants a vet visit.…[Read more]

Hi
everyone! i have a young rabbit called Missô and recently, while we were cuddling, i noticed that she has two small hairless spots on her nose whiskers’ lines, on both sides. I’ve never saw it on her before and i don’t know if it is common on rabbits (since, for example, a hairless spot behind guinea pigs ears are normal). Might it be…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁
Don’t worry about ranting! We totally get it. It can be very hard for non-bunny people to understand what it’s like to loose a bunny. She was a lucky bunny to have you, and you were lucky to have her. <3

It’s very hard to tell in many bonded pairs! I’ve given up trying :p
I’m convinced half the time both buns think they are top bun 😀

I think when I did the Pen-g injections they also gave me pre-filled syringes. The medicine is very thick so it would be hard to draw up yourself. Once you get them and they give you a demo I can give you some more tips. The first few times are scary, but it gets easier after that!

I’m so sorry you lost your girl Bambi.
I’m happy you and she formed such a beautiful friendship. Its not a given, it requires quite an effort. When we learn to communicate with a rabbit, we grow as humans.
You’re so very welcome to “rant” here. It’s what this forum section is all about -it’s a place where we are free to express our love and…[Read more]

So I can’t seem to figure out who’s the dominant one of my two rabbits Sandy and Starlight. They seem to both hump each other equally and though Sandy seems to act like a little piggy at feeding time Starlight takes no attitude from him. The last pair I had forever ago It was clear the female Honey Bunny was dominant over the male Plumpy. I als…[Read more]
