The jumping over maneuver is actually another dominance behavior, like humping or requesting grooming.

Oh and Miu does this thing where she runs up to him and the leaps over him in a u-turn. I don’t know quite what it means. Dorian seems excited by it, but isn’t doing anything much. (His mounting attempts have been rejected and he is not pushing it)

Dorian got the all clear, so after some time to recover from vet and some lunch, I set them up in my room. It was a little tense in the beginning and both buns needed a lot of human attention and calming. But now we are just having back and forth grooming. It’s not quite 100% tension free, but I think it is going good. Waiting for them to hop in…[Read more]

Although we could never establish a strong, stable bond between Fable and Wick, her presence in our family was invaluable, unforgettable, and irreplaceable. Fable passed peacefully in our home surrounded by those who love her. She is no longer in pain and is resting peacefully on a beautiful farm property overlooking a small stream. We miss her…[Read more]

Yes, thankfully the pressure is off, yeah that’s true, I was just worried about her ingesting the abscess pus due to the excessive grooming of her dewlap area, but the abscess skin itself she can’t really get to. I have washed and dried all her blankets to keep her really clean, and extra cleaned her litter box/anything her chin area may come…[Read more]

Sandy doesn’t seem to mind car rides too much. I’m just hoping if we do decide to take him along for the ride he doesn’t think we did something awful to Starlight.

I imagine it will be OK to wait. It’s not like there is anything there that wasn’t already there. The abscess bursting might actually be a good thing because the pressure has been relieved. I would just clean it up as best you can and then notify the vet tomorrow. They may or may not want to see her.

It would be good to keep in mind the environment that he came from. He was likely used for breeding and for showing. He wasn’t a house rabbit. I can’t say for sure, but he may have been housed in a cage with a wire bottom. This is a common setup for breeders. He may have had a litter box in his cage, but he was probably used to just pooping/peeing…[Read more]

Sounds like it’s a good idea to have it taken off.
How does Sandy do in the car? If it isn’t stressful for him, then I don’t see the harm.

I’m really hoping she doesn’t freak out because Sandy (her bonded mate) won’t be with her at the vet for her surgery. I brought Sandy to the vet for her last appointment but I don’t know if I could just bring him for the car ride with her. Any recommendations?

Thank you for the reassurance, it means a lot, it’s so hard not to feel bad for them, they sure do act like their grooming is the worst thing to ever happen to them haha

Thank you for sharing! Gives me some ideas for my skittish bun, he hates being pet and probably thinks he’ll die when I pick him up but he’d do absolutely anything for his pellet so mayhaps I can incorporate that

So contrary to how people use the term, a “litter box trained” rabbit isn’t a rabbit who recognizes a litterbox and goes there willingly– it usually is more the overall concept that the owner has set-up the rabbit’s environment in a way that aligns with where that rabbit naturally wants to go. Starting with a smaller sized area can help rabbits…[Read more]

Hello every! I have just recently bought a show Purebred Netherland dwarf bunny named Munchlax from a breeder who is getting out of the game, and I have asked the breeder if the bunny was or is litter trained. and according the breeder they had said he would have an on and off relationship. The first night or day he did not eat much although he…[Read more]

So the other night I did manage to get the penicillin into her sucessfully. We had some very cold nights here the last two nights so I heated up a water bottle and put a sock over it for her which she seemed to really like, to help. However, just this morning I woke up and I smelled a strange funny smell, I went to look at budja’s, she was in her…[Read more]

Hi and welcome rolobunny!
This thread is old, and the original poster is longer active on the forums. It’d be lovely if you start a thread of your own on this topic!
Contrary to many other forums, we ask our members to not revive old threads, especially those that address medical problems. This is because rabbit medicine (thankfully!) is…[Read more]

Hi, I know this is really old post but this is exactly what I am going through with my bunny and I’m at my wits end trying to figure it out. He’s been in for X-rays and spur filing and nothing has changed…. What was your outcome Rivertherabbit?
