It’s hard to tell from the picture what that is. It could be a small abscess (hay poke) or it could be a papilloma or similar.

As Bam pointed out, if he’s getting Critical Care, he won’t be too interested in water simply because the CC is already hydrating him.

I’ve only seen the tip of the tail exposed, like a centimeter or so. It was my bun Vilde’s tail, he had very soft, long hair and the tip of the tail protruded. It will likely be fine, but it would be nice to add an additional buffer. Could you add an extra gate or x-pen to keep them away from the door? What has happened to the lip? Was it an accidental injury or is it something else? Have you been in contact with a vet?

Are you feeding him Critical Care (or similar recovery product? If a bun eats only Critical Care it will need to drink less because the Critical Care is mixed with water.
