Charlie has been on Meloxicam 1.9mg for 19 days now. She was on it pre surgery for 10 days and this would be day 10 post surgery. She weighs about 7lb.
I asked her vet about the safety of long term Meloxicam during her visit on Tuesday, expressing concern she had been on it 15 days already. She said rabbits can safely take Meloxicam for 23 days ( it might have been 28, can’t remember exactly now)

She didn’t feel Charlie was post surgery enough to discontinue saying to remember she had very extensive dental work done.
She suggested another week which would be this coming Tuesday. That would put her at 22 days.

Today is Saturday, four days since her checkup last Tuesday. She does not seem to be in any distress that I can tell and today is 10 days post surgery. Eating well, playing, happy little girl.

I’m not really comfortable with her on this dosage for so long, even though her vet said it should be ok. She has an excellent exotic vet, please do understand that. I just don’t have a good feeling about the Meloxicam.

I don’t want her to be in pain or cause  her to go backwards, but it doesn’t seem she needs this anymore. I decided to not give her Meloxicam this morning and closely observe her for any signs of discomfort and change.

        l hope I’m doing ok.
