My angel, Elmer, passed yesterday very suddenly. My girlfriend and I are at a loss for words as to what happened. He was laying underneath the bed, and suddenly sprinted out, looked a little odd, and proceeded to lie underneath my desk (where he used to play with my feet while I’m doing work), and that was it. He was only 10 months old. That’s what bothers me most. The vet said they can’t quite tell what happened. This was my first pet of my own, and the first pet I’ve ever had an affinity for. This is a very difficult time for both of us. I’ll miss you forever Elmie <3

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁 Based on his age, it sounds like it could have been a congenital issue, such as a heart attack due to a heart defect, or something of that nature.

It sounds like he was very loved and lucky to have you, although his time was short.

Wow what a handsome guy! I’m so sorry your Elmer passed away. The same kind of thing happened to my bunny named Betty. She was completely fine the day before she died, was acting strange/sad the day she died. She laid down as died very shortly after. The truth is about young bunny’s is a lot have health problems before the parents even get them. There are also alot of problems that could come along with young bunny’s.The main thing you should know is that it’s not your fault, this kind of thing is more common then not. Elmer felt peace/joy in that spot he laid in (he wouldn’t have died there if he didn’t) I can tell he was well taken care of especially in this picture. It gets better with time.

I’m very sorry for your loss. I agree, it does sound like a congenital problem. It isn’t unheard of for a young bunny to die suddenly due to a heart defect. You see it in other animals, like dogs and cats too. Please don’t blame yourself, you did everything right. It sounds like he was very loved.

I’m very sorry you lost Elmer.

I too think it was something genetic/congenital, something you could not have known about, since he didnt display any symptoms of illness before this happened. He was dearly loved and excellently cared for by you.

I too had a bun who played with my feet when I sat at my desk. It was annoying at first, but I soon developed a technique where I pet him with one of my feet while I did my work. Buns are such goofy creatures, and we are so privileged to get to have them in our lives ❤
