Her pen is set up in our main living area. And someone is always talking to her or interacting with her. She has her paper towel rolls in there along with some toilet paper rolls I filled with hay and folded the ends closed. I also have willow sticks, a sea grass ball and some willow balls in there. I didn’t put her tunnel in there because she g…[Read more]

    She really is so cute!

I agree with Dana, I dont think she’ll get much bigger. She’ll fill out some, but her ears looks proportional to the rest of her. Large breed buns tend to have huuuge ears until they “grow into” them.

It is hard to have to restrain a bun, but a girl’s internal spay incisions need two weeks to heal, and before that time…[Read more]

I agree it is SO hard to confine them, but it’s important and remember it’s only temporary! It usually just makes me feel awful for those bunnies that spend their whole lives in cages. 🙁

Giving her some extra boredom buster toys during the healing time can help a lot with frustration.

Ok, so I think they are ALMOST there. You said you’ve been marathoning for the last 2 nights?

Food aggression can be an issue even in bonded pairs, but I’m more concerned about the aggression over the litter box and “spots” that Milo wants to be in.

I have a suspicion that things will get better with more time, but a few things might help a…[Read more]

Hello! I have been trying to bond my buns for months (stressful!) and recently moved to a new apartment where everything is neutral and I’m trying again.

My bunnies have been living in c&c grids side-by-side for a month. They never bit each other through the bars, and Maisie would often nap close to the bars. I started short bonding sessions two…[Read more]

I’m not sure where you heard that overfeeding measured pellets would kill a rabbit, but I’ve never heard that before. The concern with overfeeding pellets is that the rabbit will become overweight and not eat enough hay, not some sort of poisoning effect.

Aww that’s so stressful. Chewing the cage bars would not cause molars to fall out like that! Even if a tooth is broken from something, a healthy tooth would grow back.

I had a bunny (Moose) who’s molars kept cracking and rotting. He ended up with an abscess because of it, so be sure to check Tambor for abscesses. Sometimes they can form in the…[Read more]

I appreciate the response! For some reason, he’s already not eating enough timothy hay (prefers alfalfa hay). I’ve also heard that measured can kill a rabbit if accidentally overfed.

Thank you for the response. The reason I want to free feed him pellets is because I’ve read that if you accidentally overfeed measured pellets the rabbit can die.

The second picture is the one that is the most recent. We just had her spayed so she is confined to a smaller x pen for now. She isn’t happy about it and I am having to remind myself that it’s important for her to remain in there for the recommended days. It’s hard to do when she looks at me with those big eyes.

    Hi guys!
Our pet bunny, Tambor, is now 6 years old -and he has a lovely life thanks to all the advice we got from this community when we go him! <3

A month ago, we took him to the vet because he wasn’t eating his hay. He also had a long term over-tearing/watering eye issue (the vet had thought it wasn’t a big deal and had given us drops which…[Read more]

I don’t think if they are doing that they are going to start a fight. You will know if they start fighting, trust me. They will be doing this squeaking noise and aggressively biting each other. I highly don’t recommend separating them with your hands or pushing them away from each other if they start fighting. It is likely you will get bitten. And…[Read more]

Oh okay, perhaps I was misunderstood.

If they are just nipping and thumping then you probably had the same problem as me. But thank you for keeping the panel thing in mind.

Thank you! This is only my 2nd time bonding and although they got cuddly, Ruby never got aggressive towards Elmer so it feels a little mixed. BUT yes it’s so sweet to see, especially with everything Ruby has been through. I hope they continue this way!

I am so sorry for you loss – the pain of losing them is unbearable. And its natural to feel you have let them down. We are still grieving the loss of our beloved Floppy, a white lionhead who was our world. During Covid last year we had to drop him off at a the Royal Vetinary College, and then await a call after a CT scan. At the time of the call 1…[Read more]

Welcome! She’s very cute! Mis-sexing of baby rabbits is really common, often the other way around too!

I love helicopter lops, they seem to be very expressive with their ears! I’m not as great with the breed guessing, but a lop mix is a good guess. 🙂 At 7 months she prob won’t get too much bigger, but may start to fill out a little.

That sounds like a productive bonding session!

Nipping and humping are all normal parts of them sorting out dominance. Here’s a quick “cheat” sheet of what to allow. In early sessions, I tend to err on the side of too much intervention until I get a sense of which behaviors are likely to escalate to a full fight.

OK to allow (unless you know…[Read more]
