Yeah, it’s too bad, I was really hoping for them to work like it did with Elmer. I appreciate your support, bonding rabbits is so hard it makes all the difference to have a place to get help.
I of course worry it’s not a good match. They are still marking quite a lot. Max also is very stinky, like as if he hadn’t been neutered. He humped Ruby a…[Read more]

His is on day 12 of fenbendazole and other medicines, and day 8 of the baytril treatment and eye ointment.

Update
Milo started to go downhill towards the beginning of this month, he began circling and stopped eating and drinking and then rolling. Pasteurella reared it’s ugly head again and it looks like it was the cause of the ear infection on top of having e cuniculi. ( since the vet originally just gave me fenbendazole and nothing else despite me…[Read more]

Aww, bummer! But some ups and downs are normal and to be expected as the buns settle in a bit with each other. I think it’s fine to go back to shorter dates (or even pre-bonding), whatever you feel most comfortable with. I think since things have been moving pretty quickly I’d prob slow the pace a little.
Is your hand OK? I hope you had gloves…[Read more]

Hi,
We are in the same situation as you, with two bunnies housed separately. They are in pens side by side, so they are neighbours and share the same exercise space – the living room. Since we are just starting with the bonding, they cannot be let out of the pen at the same time. I agree that caring for bunnies separately can be a huge burden. Be…[Read more]

Basic run down of what they did yesterday:
– nipping; I generally try to encourage this but Shadow was being a little aggressive with it unless I’m too used to witnessing dogs interact than rabbits. Zelda nipped him on the back of his neck as she was about to hump him, he wasn’t happy with this.
– not much humping; like above, Zelda tried but…[Read more]

Yesterday a towel worked fine separating them when I felt uncomfortable with their interactions. Today I mostly utilized a dust pan because my male kept getting annoyed with my female trying to be in the same spot as him.

Well I spoke too soon. There was aggression tonight. Ruby kept nipping and I’m honestly not sure exactly what happened but I tried to move them apart and got bit. I think I set Ruby back down and tried to end positive but they weren’t having it. I tried to move max and he bit me, then picked him up and he clamped down on my finger 🙁 I’m not s…[Read more]

Oh, I was going to say, what would happen if you reduced the pen size a bit, so the area they were in was ALL pee pads and hay. Like not so small that they don’t have room to move, but small enough that he doesn’t try to “claim” the hay pile?

They look very cute together!
Do you think the couch could be making them a bit more territorial if they are familiar from your old place?
Perhaps just having two litter boxes in different areas would help. And yes, I think having lower sides on the boxes should help too.
And yes, I’ve noticed litter box tension go down over time, and sometimes…[Read more]

She is doing good. I had to call the vet to update them on her progress and they told me I could start letting her out for an hour a day starting on Monday and then by the next Monday I can let her roam as usual. She is currently staring me down because she knows it is getting close to time for her evening salad.

Sounds perfect! 😊
My own girl bun is getting spayed in a few weeks, and I must admit I’m not looking forward to trying to keep her entertained in a small-ish pen. It’s the downside of being a pet “parent” – we have to be baddies at times, and there’s never any way to explain to the pet why we do what we do.
I wish your girl a swift recovery!

Milo is the brown one and Maisie is the black and white Dutch! They’re so cute when they’re cuddled and he’s not chasing her lol

Hi Dana, thanks so much for your reply!!
The space they’re in is 12 foot by ~6-7 foot. There’s a couch there that can’t be moved which they cuddled on together, but Milo also chased Maisie away a few times off of it. They also marked the couch a bit, so it’s blanketed.
My main concern is also about Milo being territorial over the hay + “spots.…[Read more]
