You did amazing for him, I agree he was very sick, as Bam said. I feel we get closer to our rabbits when they are sick, so it’s even harder when we lose them. 🙁

You are correct. Until very recently, there were no vaccines for rabbits in the USA. Myxomatosis and RHDV were not found here. From what I understand, they don’t spread as easily because our wild rabbits are not the same as European wild rabbits. European wild rabbits are the same species as domesticated rabbits.

EC often affects the kidneys as well as the central nervous system. It’s an insidious disease. It can affect and do damage to any organ that has a high blood flow.

Unfortunately my Milo has passed on today, he passed away in his sleep after 4am sometime and was still warm when I found him. I tried everything with feeding, fluids, critical care, and gave him metacam before he passed. He still ate some greens, but he began to have very watery poop last night and became weaker the last few losing more ounces…[Read more]

It’s possible that he is associating you with pain. He sees you and he thinks you’re going to touch him. Perhaps his ear was aggravated at the vet and it’s not painful to touch? I do agree with the others that this sounds suspicious. The vet would not be able to see a middle ear infection simply by looking in the ears. If he had an outer ear…[Read more]

I agree, a dental problem is definitely a possibility and worth checking into.

Are the nails completely gone? Or just really short? Or little nubs? Perhaps they were caught on the carpet.

Yes, he does have a similar look, doesn’t he? Another idea… maybe there is some lop in there? He doesn’t have the head shape and ears of a Holland. I would watch his ears to see if they start to helicopter.

It seems that my bun has dental problems, he eats veggies very slowly compared to before. Will take him to the vet.

I understand the pain thing and I will get him meloxicam on Monday. The vet did not give him any pain meds this whole time… I’m slightly aggravated if he has been in pain cause the vet cleared him and said he was better. A bit more of the same, but a bit less humping and he stuck to the proper end more.

A little bit of food sharing, but haven’t seen any mutual grooming yet.
