Persephone started the topic Rebonding Sisters After Long Pre-bond in the forum BONDING 4 years, 10 months ago
Hi! I made a post a few months ago (see here) regarding my two 5 year old sisters who un-bonded after my dominant bun got sick. Both are completely healthy now and have been in separate x-pens right by each other with an anti-bite panel between them for 3 months. They have been doing great like this, laying/sleeping by each other through the fence…[Read more]

It’s hard to say what is the “appropriate” amount of worry– It is good that this will be assessed by a vet. It is very important that recently neutered/spayed rabbits are in a restricted space to ensure no complications in recovery. While the rabbits may start a fuss, restricting their movement/jumping/running abilities is necessary, just like…[Read more]

hello my rabbits just got neutered a week ago. One rabbits incision looks fine. But the other ones looks like this. I’m guessing it’s opened up? He’s eating drinking and acting normal. No discharge or smell. They are both free roam and bonded. They have had no issues with each other. They still get along wonderful. But they both won’t stay in…[Read more] -

Hi all,
I’ve posted before about my rabbits many medical problems and I’ve gotten some great feedback.
She needs constant care, sub-q fluids everyday or every other day depending on how she’s doing (chronic kidney disease, e-cuniculi and bladder sludge), critical care when she’s having a bad eating day (dental disease and accesses) and med…[Read more]

Gotcha! That’s helpful! It sounds like you didn’t have too hard of a time bonding your pairs, so that’s encouraging. I think if a particular pair was really hard to bond, it probably wouldn’t be a great candidate to add to a quad. There’s also the risk of the current bonds breaking, so keep that in mind.
When I was working with mine I first…[Read more]

Oh Ellie, I’m sending you huge hugs. Dear Breintje ❤️
This is such a beautiful & eloquent tribute to a very worthy bunny. I will write more when I can. I’m so tearful after reading this. Just letting you know now that I’m thinking of you & Bas.

I have bonded bunnies before. Long story short, I started with a brother and sister, and a friend to be introduced at a later date. Separated them to have them spayed and neutered. Reintroduced brother and sister but their happily ever after unfortunately didn’t last long because sister died. Introduced my boy to the other girl and they’ve rea…[Read more]

I’m so sorry to hear this Ellie, I know it was something you had been dreading. My heart breaks reading this. It seems that maybe you both knew something was building. To me is seems like the respiratory infection was probably a symptom of things starting to shut down. I think many of us have experienced rabbits “crash” on us after a seemingly…[Read more]

I have found rabbits more often associate hay placement with pooping/peeing than not, so you may need to rearrange how you typically arrange rabbit space to be agreeable to this behavior.

Hi all! I thought I’d start a new thread with the bonding template/ journal for my 2 since I haven’t done much with them yet and the actual bonding was getting buried in my other thread. I plan to start with putting them together for sessions starting Friday 10/29. The good news, Max has seemed to settle, and the poop wars are diminishing. They…[Read more]

hah!
I have experience, but I can’t say that I was successful with a fluffle. My boys just were not getting a long and it wasn’t worth the effort to keep pushing them. So I settled for 2 pairs.
Do you have someone to help you? Have you bonded rabbits before? Asking because I think the approach that may work best will differ depending on your…[Read more]

Thanks again for the response, ill be sure to look into those threads. In my own personal opinion, I think I am pretty good at getting animals used to each other, my Husky would even let my cat try and feed off it even though it wasn’t pregnant, I was so confused when I walked in on it. But i understand a rabbit is different so i will look into it…[Read more]

Without fail, your love, support, and true care for Breintje shines through. He received so much love from you, and that definitely impacted those around him too– only a truly loved and happy animal can be so cared for by vets and strangers alike. Yes 🙁 I think that’s what is making it so difficult to accept it as I know it shouldn’t have ever happened, I know I did everything I could. It seemed I was unfortunate in that this vet was in it for the money and nothing more, and rather than refer they cost me a life. Thank you everyone for your kind words. I don’t come on here very often! The morning before his appointment I picked him up to give him his medicine and his mouth was all better. Like it had never happened. 🙌 I called the vet and she said that as long as it had cleared up he didn’t need to be seen again. So happy I took him and the medicine helped and he got better so quickly! He’…[Read more]

Ahh yes, my rainbow bridge girl Bertha would pee anywhere she could access hay as well! I had to be very strategic about hay rack placement, because if she could reach it from sitting outside the box, she would just pee right there!

There are a few threads about dog introductions from over the years. The common thread is to go very slowly, and make sure your dogs know the command “leave it”. Other things include not giving the dogs any soft toys, as these teach them to hunt rabbit-like things. It might be hard with adult dogs to fully socialize them around the bun, but it…[Read more]
