Vegetables are rarely a source of weight gain– they are essentially water.
Pellets are typically the most common culprit — if it is indeed close to 1/4 cup, that will be more than probably needed for most pellet brands. Definitely for Oxbow pellets. My 7lb (3.2kilo) rabbit gets a tablespoon of pellets (Selective Science brand), to give you an…[Read more]

If you washed his feet, that’s about all you can do. Stains don’t come out of fur very well. You’ll just have to wait for the fur to grow out.

OK, curiosity got the better of me. I weighed 1/8 of a cup of Oxbow pellets. It was about 20 grams.

It’s hard to know how much 15 grams of pellets is. Different types of pellets are going to weigh different amounts. But, from what I have found online, 1/4 cup of pellets is about 15oz. If this is true, then yes, 15oz may be too much.
What brand of pellets are you using?

I agree. This could be nothing to worry about. But it’s a good idea to brush her and push hay.

martini replied to the topic Rehoming my rabbit? Please help! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 9 months ago
Buns are more sturdy than we think! I was stressed to just take mine on a car ride, but he was ok. We then upgraded to long train rides, and then to a 12hour flight (although door to door it is more like 20 hours (NYc – Brussels)). I cannot say much about rehoming but traveling with a bunny is not impossible. Sure it requires lots of preparation…[Read more]

Would it change their personalities? Also, would it mean a vet is better if they have a better facebook page, free coffee, and separate dog and cat waiting rooms?

People at the shelters acted as if we were some kind of animal abusers for preferring solo buns. One even had the nerve to say that Breintje couldn’t have been truly happy 😥 I had a call with the vet, and he said that he never had any doubts about Breintjes happiness.
I really miss my buddy 😥

I think rehoming would be totally unnecessary! I have never traveled long distances with my buns, but I think it would be fine. If bunny wouldn’t eat, you could syringe feed critical care. Unless bunny would have to be in the cargo section. If so… I don’t think that would work.

Sounds pretty positive to me!
I don’t mind face mounting in bonded pairs, but in a bonding session I will spin the mounter around so they are in the “correct” orientation to avoid a bite to the genitals if the mounted bun get’s tired of it.

Rescue organisations here (there arent many tbh) are the same, they only adopt out single buns if there already is a single bun in the household.
There are many buns here that need new homes though. My Vilde was rehomed to me privately. He’d never been treated badly, but he was alone much of the time because the child had grown up and was busy…[Read more]

Since she is eating and pooping (and acting normally otherwise), you don’t need to rush her in immediately, but there’s a few things you can do while you monitor her:
-brush her very thoroughly
-encourage her to eat extra hay and you can give some extra wet leafy veggies. I sometimes also skip a pellet ration when my buns get weird poops. No…[Read more]

We had a bonding session today. I did it during the afternoon sleepy time. It went ok… I think?
Ruby was still tense, but at times acted super comfortable. Basically they ended up cheek to cheek laying down, I was petting. They both purred during that. Ruby started grooming him a little. She also groomed herself, and he put his head under her…[Read more]

My 6 month old rabbit’s poops are small and teardrop-shaped (it started a few hours ago). When I break them apart, I can see fur inside because she’s been shedding.
She seems to be eating and behaving normally so I’m not sure if I should be concerned.
Should I take her to the vet ASAP or wait and see if her poops go back to normal?
Is there…[Read more]
