Yep, hormones kick into high gear around this age. What follows will be humping, which can escalate to chasing and fighting. It can happen in the blink of an eye. So it’s best to keep them separated for now, even if they have periods where they are “fine”. As Bam said, a bad fight can make bonding difficult or impossible in the future. It’s just…[Read more]

So she is spayed? Did you get her from a shelter that spayed before you adopted her? Or did you have your own vet spay her? And this behavior just started 2 weeks ago? Sorry, I’m just trying to clarify some things here.

I mean, it isn’t unusual for a bunny to feel possessive over their area and things. For some bunnies, this translates into…[Read more]

Hi BigBun! I removed the website address from your post since it’s against forum rules. This is an interesting topic, but I too would be concerned about the toxicity of herbal remedies. Rabbits are very different from people, and even dogs. Things that are safe for us may not be safe for them. We are definitely not experts in this area, so I would…[Read more]

Hi, looking for advice. My boyfriend and I adopted A fixed female IMG_4297 8month old holland/french lop in January she’s about 12 pounds, she’s been with us for three months or more. It took about two months for her to seem like she’s bonded with us. Recently she’s been charging and biting us all the time. She’s not showing any signs of being…[Read more]

Glad to help, I often am the same way with bonding, but my experience with trios has showed me that some buns are just happy to be in pairs.

With my last attempt I even had a bonder from the rescue work with them… after about 6 hours she called me and was like “So…. do you think they WANT to be bonded?”, and we agreed the answer was NO.  I…[Read more]

My 4.25 pound, 4 year old mini-rex, Fern, is currently being treated for snuffles.  It has taken over 5 months to find the antibiotics that he responds to.  By the way, his culture and sensitivity test results were negative for any pathogen which wasn’t helpful.  He is currently on a 30 day round of Azithromycin 1.5ml/day and nebulization of 1.…[Read more]

I know! Time is very strange.  I was very enamoured by him when I brought him home and shared it on here. Then suddenly a decade or more has passed. It happened to be Chinese New Year, year of the Rabbit on the day I picked him up and now another one of these has been and gone.

I have just a pair now and I realised the other day it was Jan 2011…[Read more]

Your buns have hit puberty. Tvey must be separated now, and kept spart until a month after they both are neutered.

Separate them as soon as you can, becsuse the humping and fighting will get worse. If they get in a bad fight, it might not be possible to bond them after their neuter.

They should be kept apart so they cant reach each other,…[Read more]

I have two rabbits. One, according to the breeder, is five months and the other is four months. they’re both males and going to get neutered in about a month.

When we got the rabbits, i had instantly put them together in one pen without bonding, as i was unaware we were supposed to. they have everything they need, like water, food, hay, toys,…[Read more]

Yes, I think your instincts are right, mine are saying the same. Pancake is acting more normal the last couple days so I will try not to worry too much about her. It’s hard to know what they are feeling but I at least know she isn’t full on depressed. I think bonding with her will be helpful for us both I agree.

Also agree with what you said…[Read more]

It can take awhile for those to heal. I agree that it’s probably best to keep an eye to make sure it doesn’t get worse.

So, my instinct is that you (as a human) definitely deserve and need a break from bonding. Pancake will be fine, so try not to worry about her. I have been in your exact position and I know the feeling of just wanting to have them with a partner again, but you should definitely be kind to yourself and just rest. I think the time would be better…[Read more]

If its inside the ear, not on the surface of the skin, I still think it could be a hematoma after a broken blood vessel. Does she seem bothered by it? It doesnt look alarming, but obviously keep an eye.
