Well done, cutting her nails all by yourself! Don’t be to hard on yourself, I’m sure she’s perfectly fine.

I was giving my bunny pets this evening and noticed these sores/cuts on his mouth. We’re planning to take him to the vet this weekend but is that too long? Is there anything to help him feel better in the meantime?

Haha! Yeah, they were probably able to get cheap rent because the mall was trying to fill empty space. I wouldn’t take that as a red flag, necessarily. More important is their operation and how they care for the bunnies.

Bunnies do go through an adolescence phase. It would be more pronounced if she was unspayed, but even spayed/neutered bunnies will try to test boundaries when they are young and energetic. The changing light can also cause them to produce sex hormones through their adrenal glands, which leads to what we call “March Madness”. It makes bunnies go…[Read more]

Aww, I’m sure she will be fine. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the nail trimmings, especially if you’re relying on someone to help you.

Yeah, it’s so hard to see them when they can’t hold themselves up. Sometimes the arthritis will lead to degeneration of the spine, as Bam mentioned. Or it can be EC sneaking in. Or it can be both.

I knew nails were overdue, but it didn’t look too bad. With my health issues, I get behind on a lot of things. Was going to have the goat farrier help again and forgot when she was here. Then I noticed Boo was not feeling well. Even though she HATES being touched, I managed to pick her up (followed by a mild drop 🥺) and checked her all ove…[Read more]

Hi we adopted her already spayed by the MSPCA, we confirmed with the vet too. She only goes for hands. It’s new behavior. Her room set up is her xpen in the middle in a square then some room for her to run around it and on the out skirts around the room wall is a dig box, two litter boxes and cardboard boxes with tunnels attached. She goes in t…[Read more]

Malls probably have lots of empty spaces these days, so I don’t think it’s weird at all. It actually sounds like a great idea because the rescue would have lots of visibility.
No harm in checking it out!

Ugh that’s so hard to see. I agree with Bam this could be an EC flare-up, this really sounds like what Bun Jovi went through (EC combined with arthritis). I also can’t recall if he was on stronger pain meds than meloxicam, but tramadol really helped Bun Jovi as well.

I’m sorry that I dont remember, but has he been tested/treated for e cuniculi before?
That said, bad age related degenerative changes to the spine can cause acute hind end weakness in dogs, it hsppened to my GSD. It could probably happen to rsbbits too, we recently had a case here on BB with a bun that had a slipped disc. Antiinflammatory…[Read more]

He’s not doing too well right now. He can’t seem to keep his balance in his back legs and keeps falling over, and he just fell onto his side and laid there and didn’t try to get back up again. He’s still eating really well and has high spirits but I’m so worried that he’s becoming paralyzed or something. The vet took x-rays just 2 months or so ago…[Read more]

Long story short. I know someone whom was thinking of volunteering at a rescue. The nearest one to us (we live in the same area.) is in a mall. We both (plus my mom) think it’s weird for a rescue to operate from a mall. But all rescues start somewhere right? What are all of your thoughts on it? Should she check it out?

Agree with LBJ10, it would be good to confirm she is in fact spayed, just to make sure that isn’t contributing. Also, the timing of the spay would be good to know! If she was spayed right before you adopted her, it’s possible she is going through a “post-spay craze”, although that usually happens between 4-6 weeks, so it’s probably a little late…[Read more]
