Hi Dana,
Thanks for the reply. We really hope that the behavior stops but I really feel bad if I close the door and keep them in the other room to sleep while we sleep in the other.
Thanks regarding about the picture it’s one of those rare ones, I’ve never seen Chestnut do that before and He held it like that for 10 minutes at least and I was…[Read more]

I am homeschooled so they get about 5-6 hours out of their cage a day. I will try and post a pic but if their cage later. I only can do a trio. I never knew that it could break up my two bunny bond up though. Does that happen often?

It kind of depends on how much time out of the cage they get, and what their dynamic is like. My feeling is that it’s on the small side for 3 though. It’s also really important to plan for a trio to not work out. So would you be OK with having a pair and a single? Or worst case, the current bond breaking and having 3 single bunnies? The bonding…[Read more]

It must be very hard to see her that way, but it is really really good news that she’s eating a bit on her own! My dental abscess bun also looked really shocking when he came home. 🙁
I’m sure the pain meds (esp the opiod) on top of everything are making her a bit out of it. Overall it does sound like things went well, hopefully she starts…[Read more]

My buns are all molting right now and it just got cold! So I think they can all be on sort of different timings.

Okay I’ll definitely look into some ointment for her. That’s for the clarification. And thank you for the Etsy suggestion!! I didn’t even think to look there but I found one that looks promising. Much easier than buying a sock and trying to tape it myself. 😛

Ointment can also help prevent the callus from cracking, so I don’t think it hurts to apply it. Keep the area moisturized might help some. But yes, your vet is correct that you need to reduce the pressure. This is where most of the problem lies. Definitely give the memory foam bath mats a try.
You can find boots for sore hocks online (Etsy,…[Read more]

I currently have two bunnies. They live in a 5 by 2 C&C cage and a 3 by 2 second level, the first level is 19.84 square feet and second level is 7.93 square feet. I found myself on petfinder and found one of my bunnies siblings. He has been there for 6 months longer than Ollie ( his brother ). Would there be enough room for 3 bunnies if I were…[Read more]

To be honest the gym mats are still pretty hard but definitely softer than hard wood flooring. But not much give. I just got out of the store with some memory foam bath mats and more fleece blankets so I’m going to line the cage trays with the mats, with the double layered fleece blanket over it.
I should have be putting some more thought into h…[Read more]

I have gotten bags of hay that I think tastes “stale”. But I agree, unless it’s moldy then it isn’t bad necessarily.

Bunnies are different and they have different fur types. Some bunnies will shed all of their fur at once 2 or 3 times a year. Others just shed fur here and there all the time (365 day a year). Both patterns are completely normal and most bunnies don’t really follow seasons since they live inside.

It looks like a callus that is starting to get irritated. It isn’t an open sore yet, but definitely something to get on top of now before it gets worse. Unfortunately, the fur usually doesn’t grow back once a callus is established. Putting moisturizing ointment on it can help, but you will need to find a way to stop the pressure and rubbing when…[Read more]

I adopted a female Holland lop from a local rescue centre in April. She was found on a rainy night in the streets, and weeks after they took her in they noticed a hock sore started to develop on her left foot. I foster-to-adopt’d her and I’ve been applying Flamazine 1% once a day, every day. They advised that this would most likely be a lon…[Read more]

Hello, does your rabbit moult before winter? In this time of the year? 🤔 My bunny sheds A LOT right now.
She sheds like most time of the year. Sometimes a lot less and sometimes it’s this much. I thought she wouldnt be shedding before winter tho. Is it normal?

I’ve been having a problem with the Oxbow Timothy hay for months here in BC, Canada. I have talked to the people at Petsmart and gotten refunded but I think I know what you’re talking about.
it doesn’t really smell different but it’s definitely way softer with more brown pieces in it. Darker green pieces too. My one bunny refused to eat it afte…[Read more]

So, Daisy has been home with us for a few hours now. And oh my, she’s in a grim state.
I’m finding her very difficult to look at properly. The wound is huge, and inside you can clearly see the exposed bone of her mandible. She’s in a very, very sorry state.
But there’s a class difference in how she’s feeling after having some time in her quiet…[Read more]

OMG that picture is so cute!
I think what you’re seeing is likely some territorial marking because you moved. Bed-peeing can be a problem for lots of bunnies as well. The combo of the soft texture and strong smell of humans can trigger them to mark (which would also explain why she does it when you are in bed). Consider it a sign that she wants…[Read more]

Thank you all for replying. My vet gave him metronidazole and I also asked for a probiotic. Hopefully, this time it works. I will keep you posted. I feel like this is going to be a long recovery for him.

I’m glad they examined her teeth. Something isn’t right though, if she’s eating and pooping less. Sometimes rabbits poop very little or not at all during daytime when they mostly rest. Are you still giving her the anti inflammatory?
