jerseygirl replied to the topic Saved rabbit, need help IDing breed so I can look up care tips in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 9 months ago
Just correcting an error I made with “ The blue eyes make it even more likely”. I think I got waylaid by something in page I had linked. The breed standard is brown eyes, but blue can occur- especially if Vienna gene in the line. (I think!) that gene can be responsible for some interesting markings in rabbits.

So, I took him to a vet the day after that, thankfully it wasn’t blood and she said to let it be for now, if it happens again I will take a sample and let them do microscopic examination. The same goes for coccidiosis, she said there’s no need to be scared right now. I really hope she is right.
He looks good, he finally got vaccinated too, as he…[Read more]

Also, sometimes you can find the exact same item….litter, cleaning products, etc.,… cheaper if marketed for cats, rather than small animals.
Why…??? No idea.
I use the crumbled paper litter, same brand, same product and about $4 cheaper to buy the cat version…same with cage/litter box box wipes.

Hi,
I have a very happy, healthy bun. He loves eating hay which is great. I usually buy oxbow Timothy hay and I know he prefers it because he gets very excited about it. Occasionally my pet store is sold out and I have to use a different brand. He doesn’t love other brands but usually eats it.
This time the only hay in the pet store was a…[Read more]

How would you be bringing them in the store?
A typical pet crate would be cumbersome. Maybe a pet stroller?
But yes, do a couple quick trials at quite stores to see how they like it.

For my Guinea Pigs, I use the pine pellets with Aspen on top, for the very reason you mentioned, works great.

Just weird thoughts that pop into my head…
Could a rabbit have plain shredded wheat cereal? It’s high in fiber!
I was just thinking some of our friends here seem to lack access to hay, would this help?
I have fiber on the brain. One of my dogs recently development anal gland issues, so have been giving her high fiber supplements and have p…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Injectable penicillin in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 9 months ago
In terms of separation, did you separate them completely via room? Did they still appear distressed if just separated by a pen wall? Also, just to provide another perspective, there are times we assume feelings onto our rabbits that aren’t actually there or not to the degree mentioned. I would think 2-3hrs of proximal separation could be OK.…[Read more]

Apologies for not getting a rapid response after your posting, but just mentioning that I agree at this point, it seems like a naturally-occurring callous to keep an eye on generally.

In addition the checking about actual permission, you would need to make sure that both rabbits are taken in a secure way. Also, “going out” can be generally one-dimensional for humans (i.e. we either like it or not a lot of times), but for rabbits, each environment brings different smells, sounds, and unknowns, so if you have concerns about…[Read more]

Hello, so I started up bonding sessions again! I’m not exactly sure what it all means.
One was for an hour and mostly ignoring. Today I did the longest yet, 4 hours. It was intense and Ruby was really nippy. She didn’t seem to want him close for long. A lot of head wars and Ruby frustration it looked like. Ruby kept trying to hump his head and…[Read more]

Hey y’all, long time no talk! How are you?
So, I’m trying to complete the Inventing merit badge, and I actually need to invent something. I created the Rabbit Multitool. So far I only have a little cardboard model but we will be getting the materials to actually build the prototype soon.

So that’s just a little cardboard model. The white lines…[Read more]

No, there is no dental problem. He is eating everything else but hay in regular amounts. I don’t think the vet even checked though. I just don’t know how long it will take to have him back to normal – eating the same amount of hay as before and finally drinking water.

Yes, cat treat balls are quite popular. They also have those forage mats that you can hide food in.
