The 5 second rule hahaha. Okay and one last question do you think it could just happen suddenly? That she is healthy, nothing changed and now she always every evening leaves one in litter?
I just want to be little sure I don’t have to rush to vet or that something is wrong.

What kind of mites are they? Fur mites? Ear mites?
If you treat with Revolution, there will be some effect on the environment via the shedding of dander. I wouldn’t worry too much about hay or willow-based products… which I’m assuming these items are? If they are washable, then go for it. Otherwise, they shouldn’t really serve as a source for…[Read more]

Considering the absence of coughing, discharge from within (as opposed to excess being smeared around), and general respiratory sounds, he is likely fine and didn’t aspirate anything.
You can see here for some more in-depth information re: rabbits choking: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/First_aid_for_rabbits#Choking … again, it sounds like none of…[Read more]

Hi everyone! I have a 2 year old neutered male lionhead named Mickey that I absolutely love to death. He was having some stomach issues today (gas, small poops, etc.) so I gave him 1 cc of Simethicone (baby gas drops) to help. He is so hard to give medications to because he is so squirmy and he flinches when you get the syringe near his mouth. I…[Read more]

My name is Jon, I have a degree in Animal Science and love working with rabbits. Rabbits were one of my main interests while in college at Texas State University. I been a rabbit owner since I was a child, my last bunny I had was a Netherland Dwarf, her name was Victoria. She crossed the rainbow bridge in May 2020. I am currently adopting a rabbit…[Read more]

Hello, I got these in my hay and I was wondering what kind of weeds and/or flower these are.
I’ve googled them but i’m not sure what these are.
I think the flower is dandelion, I just want to be safe and sure that it is okay to feed my buns these!
There’s also thistle, but it so prickly, I usually throw them away.
Thank you.

Jonmar28 replied to the topic New brand of hay, bun won't eat it in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 9 months ago
Rabbits are very picky eaters. One thing I was taught in college while getting my Animal Science degree is to smell the hay. If it smells sweet rabbits tend to like it. A lot of time you just need to fluff it and add some toppers to encourage them to eat it.

I was reading your original post and immediately thought it could be EC as well. I’m glad to hear you’re going to give the treatment a try. I hope it helps!

It depends on the mites. Some can live in the environment for a little while, some don’t do so well. The first step is to treat her with the appropriate treatment, which is usually ivermectin or Revolution… but it effectiveness can vary depending on the type of mite.
PSA: Just a remind not to use anything with fipronil. It’s toxic to rabbits.

It would depend on the pellets. I’m not familiar with these. But what you have pictured seems like a good rationed amount. Honestly, I would not be overly worried if you see a cecotrope here and there. The look perfectly normal. Perhaps she has a 5 second rule for if it lands on the ground? LOL I’m kidding. Bunnies sometimes just leave them for…[Read more]

Yes, it sounds like they were suspecting EC, which is much more common. I would be curious to see what meds they prescribed.

For how long would you recommend to remove one type of green? Like a week?
Aw my bunny loves the hay, i even think she is eating too much of it. She is eating it literally always haha.

This is the amount of pellets she gets twice a day morning/evening. These are science selective rabbit food for adult. Is it okay? Can you tell from the…[Read more]
