Sagicory started the topic Before Bonding, Getting Comfortable? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 8 months ago
Hi! Not sure if anyone remembers, but I was trying to bond my two 1 year old rabbits, Sage and Chicory, together a few months back. We were going through prebonding but because of some litter box leaks and a pee stain that went through three layers (rubber mat, plastic sheet, and then old rug) and dyed our floor, our schedule got put off. I’ve…[Read more]

<p class=”p3″>Hi all! Iām not sure where to post this, but Iām wondering if anyone has advice on curbing obsessive chewing? As background, I bonded a 3ish year old female rescue bun (Pixie) to my 5 year old lionhead male (Wolfie) this year, and the bond is holding aside from random mounting. They are completely free roam but have a pen as home bas…[Read more]

I think these types of changes are normal as you get into longer sessions! Usually in longer sessions there will be little flurries of activity, and then longer time periods where they seem to ignore each other. This is all normal, and they don’t need to be interacting 100% of the time to be making progress, because choosing to ignore the other…[Read more]

Ah, I see!
I use a big piece of vinyl flooring under my buns’ pens to protect the flooring, maybe something like that would help protect your carpet!
Since you are going to move into bonding a group it might be a bit of a lost cause to try to get their box habits in order now, as they will most definitely lose them again when you start bonding again!

Some buns are sensitive to various ingredients, so if you’re concerned that might be the case, you could give a small piece to start and see how he responds. It would be “safe” to give the amount recommended based on your bun’s weight, but you could always start with less to be safe. Some bunnies have a bit of an adjustment period with any new…[Read more]

Thanks!
I am going to give them their salad in tonight’s session š
Last night session was a little stale. I think Glenn is started to get pretty frustrated with Bellas persistent requests for grooms. She follows him around the bathroom, nipping his bum gently for attention, he has actually started to give her some quick grooms in response to…[Read more]

Same thing over here re: almost all things. We do have to gate off the rabbit run area, just so our dogs and the buns can get used to one another, so they’re always meetkat-ing to see what’s in the great beyond haha
Really tho, their space runs straight through the living room and they’ve got a large part of our apt, so they’ve got nothing much to miss.

Hopefully a few weeks is all it takes. It’s been awhile since I had youngsters and I’ve never gone through a bonding process since my other pair are siblings. I know with time it will get better. My poor husband works from home in our office where the youngsters are stationed right now and he’s getting frustrated with the lack of litter box…[Read more]

Hi Dana,
I’ve tried lower litter boxes but Scout lifts pretty high and accidentally pees over the side. We swapped to the high sides to help her keep it in the box. I have seen both her and Smudge hop over the higher sides to get in even though the lower entrance would obviously be easier. They like to do things the hard way. haha
As far as the…[Read more]

Perhaps it’s scar tissue from that infection then. It seems to fit and, yes, the pictures do look similar.

OK. Indeed, the digestive support treats are not medicine to cure anything, but some people have found improvements with it (and it’s a ‘healthier’ treat compared to others). It is safe to use as long as you’re in the recommended feeding guidelines (I usually always do less though), if you decide to try it.

Another question, would it be too much if I gave one once a day like the recommended amount in the back of the packaging.

I do not think adjusting vegetables really does much for weight, outside perhaps feeling “full” from the water content and potentially not eating as a result. There can be a sort of “magical” thing about a rabbit reaching their ideal/healthy…[Read more]

I was given it because my bunny went through GI and I took him to the vet and they were like use this as a prebiotic or probiotic I don’t remember lol. But I realize he was getting GI because of stress so I moved him to another area so far so good.

Well I tried the plan. Put them on the dryer a couple minutes, walked around then pet them in the carrier on my lap. After a few min I put them in the small area. They ignored each other, eventually when Max came close she growled and nipped a couple times again š
He went and layed in a corner. I picked her up and put them side by side and…[Read more]
