I agree it can be very difficult to find toys that a rabbit likes. My bun uses her treatball and a snuffle mat for her daily pellet ration. She gets fresh apple twigs every day, luckily I have access to pesticide free apple twigs. She’s very good at stripping the bark off of them. I’ve made a blanket digging corner on my couch, she really likes to…[Read more]

Thank you so much! I’ll space out the trimmings a bit more as well. She is chasing and bullying my cat like usual so she doesn’t seem to have any issues lol

It’s uncommon, but some rabbits do chew their nails, for reasons unknown. I will say that biweekly nail trims is pretty frequent, and I wonder if that much attention to the nails may be causing her to attend and chew on them for one reason or another?
I would continue to monitor as you are for any signs that the surrounding skin or nail itself is…[Read more]

Hello! My name is Sierra, and my sweet Californian rabbit is called Dahlia. Dahlia was a rescue, and is about 4 or 5 years old. She is very healthy and is the sassiest furbaby Ive ever had! I was giving her her bi-weekly nail trim when I noticed one of her nails was chewed all the way down! Of course I was worried and looked it over but saw no…[Read more]

Yes, I wish I could afford all that. Actually, I would be able to afford more, but in my house, a nice new willow ball lasts 1-3 days. And a pile of maple sticks lasts 1 or 2 hours. 😂

Elmer was so lucky to get you and Ruby!
I’m very sorry you lost him.
It’s very hard to write that Rainbow Bridge post.

Lily bunny posted an update 4 years, 8 months ago
Lily has really been digging a lot at my carpet. She was sitting at my feet last night and was pulling hair from her chest area. I read that she’s wanting to set up a nest. She’s not pregnant though. I made her a dig box and she does dig in it at night but during the day she won’t. Instead she wants to dig at the corners of the wall or the carpe…[Read more]

What a beautiful tribute to a special bun <3
It must have been so hard not being there with him, but you did well by him.

Yeah it’s hard. Well when I started in the kitchen, it’s a pretty large area and on another floor from their space, so I think it was very neutral and large enough. They didn’t do well there (they did at first but deteriorated), and it was too hard to stop the fur pulling. I like the small space because I can stop it. I don’t have an option to go…[Read more]

I’m sorry you aren’t seeing improvements. 🙁
The only thing I can think of to try is to try a date in a completely new place, and possibly in a much larger space. Rabbits are super smell oriented, and so if the “neutral” space still smells like your house, they will not see it as completely neutral. I’ve found this seems especially important when…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Tendon Torn in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 8 months ago
Tendon repair surgery is not uncommon for humans, esp in cases of complete achilles tendon rupture.
If a tendon is completely severed, with no segment of it holding it together, the severed ends will be pulled in opposite directions, which means they nolonger have contact and thus can’t heal. But if there is some part of the tendon that still is…[Read more]

Thanks again, Bam! Max was an outdoor rabbit in a hutch. When my husband and I adopted him, we decided to keep him inside with the goal of ‘free roaming’ him once liter-trained. So, his environment has completely changed! He seems like he is loving it but no doubt, there is quite an adjustment. I should have asked more questions at the vet…[Read more]
