Thank you all for the replies, I decided to take her back to her emergency vet because she was in pain, they have the most wonderful rabbit savvy vet there that got her through her first GI back in October (the weren’t available when this emergency came up). After she did a thorough examination she did say that my bun was still dehydrated but s…[Read more]

Hi, i just came across this topic in one of bunny pages. How often do you clean your buns scent glands?
My bun is one year old and i have never had a look on those 🙁 I didn’t know, i feel bad for that.
Can i wait and check them when I clip her nails in like two weeks as she hates being picked up. Can this wait If they have never been cleaned?

Pics ending in 315 and 452 look like urine pooled near the poop! So don’t worry about those. The others seem like they are just a bit more wet than they should be (so they are staining the fabric a bit), but they are formed which is good.
I agree the poops don’t look great. But they also don’t look completely awful (they are formed). Is he…[Read more]

Yes, my buns have 20 sq. ft. It would not be really ideal to have them in anything smaller unless they were getting 3 or 4 or 5 hours of playtime every single day.

I agree that some noises from the gut are better than no noises. A silent GI tract is in stasis. Eating lots of hay is amazing.
Can you encourage her to move around a bit??
There are also other things that can cause abdominal pain. Liver torsion is one that is commonly confused with stasis (and sometimes coincides). I think if you are still…[Read more]

I agree with Wick that if she’s eating and pooping, she’s on the road to recovery. Some gas can be normal when there is residual slowing of the gut.
Can you describe the location of the area that’s hard? Maybe relative to her rib cage?

Hugs to you and your family. <3
How nice that Daisy got to spend some time in the garden too. She’s no longer in pain now and you can remember her enjoying the sunshine and fresh grass.

Hello. Rabbits are awesome!
I thought I would share some mistakes I made as well.
- I also didn’t prepare and put her in a pet store guinea pig cage. She drank out of a water bottle. With only one toy and no litter box.
- I only got one at first, rabbits are very social animals, sounds like you are getting two or more though so that’s great.
- I…

I think bunny insurance is a good idea. My bunny had to have x rays a few days ago which cost $350 plus just to have the vet give him a checkup it was $175 not to mention the costs of meds too. I think only nationwide covers rabbits.

There is a triple-vaccine available in Europe, Nobivac Myxo-RHD Plus. It covers myxo, RVHD1 and RVHD2 and is given yearly. I have had two buns vaccinated with this vaccine.

Hey!
I would say 12 weeks is okay as well. I always like to give them a small piece of something and then wait 24hrs and then try another new thing 🙂 just to ensure it sits well with their sensitive tummies.
Just a note from a fellow UK bun mum. Its even more crucial in the UK that you ensure your rabbits are vaxed against myxomatosis and…[Read more]

Hugs to you and yours.
It is our last gift to them. Feel peace you could do it at home, where she was surrounded by love.

As noted in the video, rabbits with a blockage may have the urge to drink, so it is plausible to carry over to eating — it’s not expected though since arguably blockage would be very painful and make them not want to eat.
At this point, if your rabbit is eating and pooping steadily, she is likely on the road to recovery.

Remember that input impacts output, so if she’s not eating as much, it’s quite natural that she’s not going to be producing as many poops. Gurgling noises are not necessarily 100% — what they signal is not only gas bubbles, but gas bubble movement, and there are times when hearing movement is very much preferable to not! It’s great to hear she’s…[Read more]

I feel like she’s slowly going downhill. I’m giving her medicine, she’s starting to eat small amounts of critical care on her own, she’s producing cecotropes (and eating them), and she’s still eating lots of hay. But she isn’t producing as many poops in the litter box and she is pushing her stomach against the floor when the pain medication…[Read more]

I am adding the pic of his poop. I am unsure whether its his poop mixed with urine or its the liquid poop. I guess I am freaking out. It might be the urine.
