    Hormonal behaviors in an older neutered male can also be a sign of adrenal issues.

    If he has stopped growing then you can try a pellet-free diet. Some bunnies do fine, some do not. From what I have seen on the forum, most (not all) people who go with a pellet-free diet do it because their bunny had an issue with eating pellets. This can happen, but it isn’t common. Otherwise, most people feed their bunny at least some pellets…[Read more]

    Most vets don’t ask a lot of questions. At least not in my experience. They will just ask if you have noticed any problems or if there is something you are concerned about. Then they will do an exam more or less as Bam described. You can certainly ask questions, like what they recommend diet-wise, etc. This will give you a better idea of their…[Read more]

    So i recently found a thread on here talking about pellet free diets and now i’m a little worried. My bunny is about 6-7 month old now and i’ve fed him only pellets until he was 4 months and then i would give about one table spoon of pellets and 1 cup of veggies for every 2lbs of bodyweight and now i give him less than 1 tbsp of pellets like one…[Read more]

    Hello, I have three bunnies, a one that is just over a year named Azalea, one that is around eight months named Roo, and one that is around six months named Fern. Roo and Azalea have been bonded for the past about five months and have never had any problems. We added the third bunny Fern about 4 months ago. For a while there were no problems but…[Read more]

    Bam, thank you SOOO much for taking the time to respond with such detail! This is MY first pet so, I don’t have much experience with vet appointments (much less those dealing with buns).  The information & tips  you provided are extremely helpful! I’m really grateful!

    If she approves of orange but hates apple, orange is the way to go. It must be something that she finds appealing.

    Congratulations of being Max’s humsn!

    I think you’ll notice if the vet feels comfortable handling rabbits. You can help Max by bringing a fleece blanket or terry cloth towel to put on the examination table. Exam tables are slippery and scary for rabbits-they need to have a hard, smooth surface for cleaning purposes, but rabbits find such surfaces…[Read more]

    We ended up not getting to meet the bun, she had a list of people wanting to adopt (& I applied only a couple days after she went live). There are 3 new buns in, but they are a bonded trio and adorable as the may be, that’s more buns than my small place could handle! I did consider it 😀

    @DanaNM I wish I could help, I know with puppies and…[Read more]

    Go onto YouTube and play fireworks sounds at a low volume near them so they get used to the sounds of the sizzles, bangs, pops, and sparks. Then as they get used to it, increase the volume to a more normal range of sound. Doing that may help desensitize them, since they’ll realize it’s just noise not something chasing them. Doing that worked per…[Read more]

    Yes! Max searches through his hay! I imagined he was looking for the perfect strand to eat! Now I know that’s what he is actually doing! LOL!  What bun wouldn’t like fresh hay?! I’ll continue to top it off… thank you!!!

    Hello!

    Max is 9 months.  We’ve had this bundle of joy for a little over a month now.    About a week after he came to live with us, I took him to the vet for a checkup & to cut his nails (which were really long).  I was not satisfied with our experience at the vet’s office. I overheard the vet’s tech call Max ‘bad’.  The vet corrected her sayi…[Read more]

    Good news is she’s woken up okay and is back at home very sleepy but warm and nibbling here and there.

    Unfortunately they couldn’t find anything in the ultrasound but the vets are pretty positive that there’s something wrong with her urinary tract, since noticing the lethargy I’ve been watching her like a hawk and discovered nothing or very…[Read more]

    Unrelated to your question, but just wanted to point out depending on how often you change the box, hooded litterboxes can trap ammonia and be dangerous for rabbits as a result.
