DanaNM replied to the topic Food-borne illness and rabbits? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 7 months ago

Yes I would think so. MRSA is a rare infection to pick up in a typical household setting. It tends to be contracted in hospitals (due to the high rates of antibiotic usage that drive evolution of antibiotic resistance), and wouldn’t respond to Neosporin. However, if you had a cut or wound that wasn’t healing properly with typical first aid, it…[Read more]

Hmmm, I do wonder if he has a dental problem since he has refused hay for a long time as well as grass. Most buns love fresh green grass. Sometimes buns will fill up on pellets and refuse to eat their hay, but this sounds like something more than that since he also didn’t like grass or bamboo leaves (my buns also love bamboo leaves!).

    Are his…[Read more]

Where are you doing the bonding sessions? And how long have you been marathoning?

If you are just removing the barrier between their living spaces, it is expected that they would act territorial because at night they are claiming the space, making it less neutral territory. Sorry if I’m misunderstanding the situation. I use puppy pee pads on the…[Read more]

Ooh an art bussiness, that sounds cool! I love drawing, but I’m not professional or anything. I’ve only been doing it for 3 months, but I never intend to stop!

I’m so sorry about Luna. I hope she is feeling better.

Just wanted to add some extra details for my own reference to refer back to if needed.

On the Thursday Luna’s cataract had turned dark golden brown, with a reddish hint. The vet said this was due to the anaemia and she was likely bleeding behind the cataract. Since she has stabilised her cataract is lightening in colour again and was almost milky…[Read more]

It could be just temporary. I was thinking maybe he was 4-6 months or so and not neutered, then it could be about starting puberty. If he’s 2 years old, he’s well past puberty, of course.

Rabbits do like to dig and bite and shred fabric, and they can also like to throw things, like food and water bowls. It’s normal for them, maybe he was just…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Too hot in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 7 months ago

As you know, rabbits aren’t very good at dealing with heat, so what you describe sounds natural for rabbits when it’s warm. Rabbits can sweat and they can’t pant like dogs. They can pretty much just spread out, and rest so as not to generate more heat through muscle work. Sending blood to the ears is their main way to cool themselves, but it won’t…[Read more]

    Hi again guys,

Sorry to revive this thread but I need some advice as we’ve now moved on to much longer bonding sessions. The situation is that they are living together in a neutral space, but at night they need to be separated with a barrier between them. There is still intermittent nipping and it’s starting to really affect my life supervising…[Read more]

Okay so I could just be being a paranoid bunny mumma right now but is it normal for rabbits legs to splay out like this? We are just having an on the floor snuggle and I’m giving her lots of pets, she’s not forced to be here and assumed the position herself so her leg isn’t like that because I’ve plonked her there, it’s almost like she can’t keep…[Read more]

Azerane, sending you positive vibes for your art business and Luna alike! Glad to hear she’s getting better, good luck!

he is 2 years old and he isnt neutered but there arent really a lot of rabbit savvy vets who are open right now where i live. and the vet i took my bunny to is rabbit savvy but it is really expensive to neuter there its like $800. but he wasnt this destructive before. well today he was well behaved so maybe it was just temporary?

If you’re getting a PB from a breeder, you can at least make your selection easier. High drive dogs tend to have high drive puppies. So you want to look for a breeder, or specific dogs from a breeder that meet that low drive, relaxed requirement. If you’re adopting, the rescue and/or foster carer will be able to help you select the dog with the…[Read more]

Thank you, yes her behaviour is really positive. When I got up this morning she was in the litter tray eating hay. Apollo has been doing binkies since she got back. He spent 2 days just loafing unless we were interacting with him.

Cleaned out both litter trays again this morning so I can keep a close eye on her output. Otherwise my other concern…[Read more]
