Rydun started the topic Flaky skin and what appears to be Sores on my mini lops neck!?! in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago

Hi there,
I have had my mini lop bunny for 2 months and he has never exerted any problems, but recently I have noticed what I first thought was some kind of inflamed area, sore or rash as well as flakes of dry skin in large pieces have began appearing on his neck.
I have tried to get pictures of the area but struggled as he is still a bunny…[Read more] -

Hi there, I adopted an adult bunny from someone who was leaving town. I currently live in Penang, Malaysia. Bruce (my bunny) was eating Harrington’s pellets, but now it’s no longer available in Malaysia (not sure why yet) and I’m experimenting with other brands. Does anybody have any suggestions on a good alternative for her kibble? She seems a…[Read more]

Poppy died yesterday at only 3 1/2 years of age.
She was perfectly fine and acting normal in the morning, stretched in a funny way about 9, I suspected something wasn’t right when she went under the bed and started treatment for GI stasis – which she was prone to – when she didn’t come for lunch.
I’ve treated her for GI stasis before, have a…[Read more]

@Azerane: oh gross, that’s always such a cleanup 🙁 I hope that they’ve left the rabbits alone. Some rabbits have a very thick coat and the fleas have problems getting through.

The cats have fleas! 🙁 We noticed them getting itchy about 2 weeks ago, I checked their coats and couldn’t find a thing so put it down to their extreme summer shed this year. I’ve checked their coats intermittently since then and still found nothing. Today I checked Jasiri immediately after she licked her shoulder and I found a suspicious speck…[Read more]

Rabbits as a rule don’t binky very much when they’re older. Can she still jump up on things with ease?

I just wanted to add that if cilantro or parsley or other herbs or lettuce get a little wilted, you can perk them up by soaking them in very cold water for like 15 min. It won’t make them green if they’ve gone yellow of course, but if they’re just “limp” it works. If the herbs have started to go a little yellow, you can lay them out on f ex…[Read more]

Cinnamon Bun replied to the topic Covid in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
I don’t think buns can catch COVID-19 from people, but it’s transmissible through touch so she can carry it on her fur, and make other people sick. Also I would wash my hands with soap before and after handling her, just in case. Some random sources say absolutely do not touch and cuddle them, but honestly I’ve had COVID and cuddled my buns and it…[Read more]

It couldn’t hurt her to get some more hay in her, maybe a break from pellets will be good for her

So, she doesn’t really binky. I’ve seen her binky only a few times. She’s got the space to do it, but she never does. Maybe that’s osteoarthritis…?
Thanks for the advice! I’ll book a spay (with blood work and the x-ray) tomorrow

I had one or two other question.
It’s a new one and he’s currently free roam in the living room. I don’t want to change too much things since everytime I do, it seems to take him time to adjust. How long does it normally take for a rabbit to trust a new home ? He seem so scared of every corner in the room and I’m like man, you’ve been here a week…[Read more]

Thank you so much for all your replies.
I decided I’ll build trust first, and then train him to tolerate being picked up.
Tell me if I’m wrong, but I’ll give my advice to those who are in a similar situation.
For grooming, I basically lure him on a pillow or anything hard really and lift him up on an elevated surface, their he’s scared and…[Read more]

I don’t have any experience with euthanasia, although I’ve sadly had a few rabbits pass away. Two of them were very traumatic and it was clear the buns were in a lot of pain, so I wish I had been able to help them pass more peacefully, although their deaths were so sudden it would never have been on my mind.
I know that Bladesmith just went…[Read more]

I totally agree that there shouldn’t any guilt involved with throwing in the towel. Buns get a lot of benefits from having another bun as a neighbor, even if they aren’t bonded, and Wick is right that having established set-ups vs the sea of pens and fencing that you end up with during bonding!
When I was having a super hard time with Bun Jovi…[Read more]
