Im sorry to see this, Bladesmith. It’s never an easy thing to face.

Sweet Dawn. The quintessential Netherland dwarf rabbit! She had a good long life with you and your daughter. She’s probably happily hopping around after Clover again now.

Im glad your daughter got to spend time with her before she went over the bridge.

How is Loki getting on…[Read more]

Yes, what is the members-only section? 😄

Im guessing it’s just a turn of phrase Ellie is using.

There probably has been discussions of buns reacting to hormonal changes on here becore. Although, I really only recall it more to do with pregnancy. I guess the fluctuations in hormalsrelated to the cycle is more frequent and rabbits that do pick u…[Read more]

    Hi Crie

I’m not sure if you’ve had to make a decision for Clara by now but I wanted to share my limited experience. I’ve had 2 rabbits euthanised. One was young (under 2 years of age). He was dying and I had to have that process go better for him. I unfortunately was not with him as they took him out the back. I hadn’t realised that’s what was…[Read more]

Have been waiting for that happy update! So grateful you have them back home and no more landlord to deal with. 🎉

Congratulations on the new home, Dana 😊

ps. Also grateful for HRN. I’m happy to hear they are still active organisation. Their website was one I frequented a lot years ago. The bonding guide is a favourite and the one I used way ba…[Read more]

It’s me again BAM and Dana!

    Some news…

Maui was not doing so good, him normally being curious and playful was scared and he was getting away from me..

I went to the vet since I tought he had mites. He’s licking way too much, he’s over grooming, he’s eating basically all his fur around his sides so it isn’t normal.

The vet said that even though…[Read more]

    Hello!

A bunny was dumped in a parking lot near us. We picked him up and he’s a beautiful young unneutered  male. Can you ID him for me—-Cinnamon?

Anyway,  I have a rescued Netherland Dwarf (3.5 pounds) just neutered 16 month old. He is very territorial and fairly aggressive but that seems to be changing as time from neuter increases.

    Is t…[Read more]

Ava’s had a rough couple months and about 3 weeks ago, she had to get her eye removed. Its finally healing up and she doesn’t seem to be in pain anymore, so I wanna tackle grooming her face. Over the few weeks of her recovery, her face has gotten very messy and matted between the medicine, critical…

I don’t think you have to worry about long term effects, if he doesn’t have any stomach upset soon, I think he would be in the clear. Its like overindulging on a treat.

Thank you! And thanks for updating the title.

They already seem happier and Glenn has been making the happy squeak noise when they eat together (can’t remember it’s proper name) which he has never done before!

That’s promising that they should sort themselves out, I think I will feed her portions on the sly as she is actually already a little…[Read more]

yeah, Don’t be surprised to see a female rabbit humping a male (or another female).

this behavior is in part a dominance behavior, and sometimes the female is the top bun. Closely supervise this and stop any circling behavior.

The texture makes me think it’s a papilloma. You can’t aspirate them, only cut them off. If it is a papilloma, then you could wait to see if it resolves itself. Oftentimes they go away on their own.

Only you can decide for sure.  But personally, I let her go on a high note.  Seems with all her issues, it’s just a matter of time.

Hugs to you.  We will always second guess ourselves, no matter what.

It definitely sounds like they aren’t afraid of you, which is great! Laurel and Acorn are super cute names!

Another thing to be aware of with food aggression around treats is to make sure you aren’t unintentionally rewarding the chasing. I noticed I was doing this with my two: I would rush to put the food down to prevent them from bickering, and…[Read more]
