I’m sorry Maui has an ear infection! You have to give the medicines even if it’s stressful for him. He will forgive you once this thing is over. Restraining him on the floor is difficult too, but at least he can’t jump off from a height. Did you get pain medicine (meloxicam, sold under many brand names)as well as ear drops? Ear infections can be…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hello lovely</p>
It’s not silly to still have heartache and loss they are wonderful little things and fulfill so many of our needs so it’s only human to still feel such loss months later. I love my rabbit as deeply as I ever have to a human. It’s no different.I hope talking to others and keeping busy is comforting…[Read more]

I think I know deep deep down that it was the right thing to do. It doesn’t make easier though. I miss him so much, I am lonely and it just feels like something is missing. I have a great partner but there’s just something you get from a pet that you can’t get from a human. I’m terrified of getting another rabbit now but I just feel empty and…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic What herbs and fruits after surgery in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
Any fragrant herbs that she normally likes. Parsley and cilantro, for example. As for fruit, any fruit, really. My bun goes crazy for apples. Right after her spay I also gave her a few dried goji berries, and that was the first thing she ate. I had made her a little smorgasbord with small heaps of nice things to eat, including hay and some…[Read more]

Meg replied to the topic Mats in face fur help in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago
No need to shave – cutting the skin (or whiskers as you point out) is a concern. You might have some luck with just a bit of warm water (in small amounts, just to spot-clean) and massaging the mats with your fingers. I confess I’ve used haircutting scissors to cut away the more stubborn mats a couple of times, but only when the bun is nice and c…[Read more]

That’s really rough — I’m so sorry!
I agree, only you can decide for sure. But if you’re looking for a measure of how she is feeling (re: will to live), I’ve heard of the 3 As as a potential measure: appetite, affection (how much they like to snuggle / be pet), and I think attention (how much they like to play with their toys and/or interact…[Read more]

My 4.5 months old bunny is been spayed/ neutered in the upcoming weeks and I am worried about recovery after the surgery. In case that she has decreased appetite what fresh herbs and / or fruits should I be ready to offer. Thank you!

Im sorry to see this, Bladesmith. It’s never an easy thing to face.
Sweet Dawn. The quintessential Netherland dwarf rabbit! She had a good long life with you and your daughter. She’s probably happily hopping around after Clover again now.
Im glad your daughter got to spend time with her before she went over the bridge.
How is Loki getting on…[Read more]

Yes, what is the members-only section? 😄
Im guessing it’s just a turn of phrase Ellie is using.
There probably has been discussions of buns reacting to hormonal changes on here becore. Although, I really only recall it more to do with pregnancy. I guess the fluctuations in hormalsrelated to the cycle is more frequent and rabbits that do pick u…[Read more]

Hi Crie
I’m not sure if you’ve had to make a decision for Clara by now but I wanted to share my limited experience. I’ve had 2 rabbits euthanised. One was young (under 2 years of age). He was dying and I had to have that process go better for him. I unfortunately was not with him as they took him out the back. I hadn’t realised that’s what was…[Read more]

Congratulations on the new home, Dana 😊

It’s me again BAM and Dana!
Some news…
Maui was not doing so good, him normally being curious and playful was scared and he was getting away from me..
I went to the vet since I tought he had mites. He’s licking way too much, he’s over grooming, he’s eating basically all his fur around his sides so it isn’t normal.
The vet said that even though…[Read more]

Hello!
A bunny was dumped in a parking lot near us. We picked him up and he’s a beautiful young unneutered male. Can you ID him for me—-Cinnamon?
Anyway, I have a rescued Netherland Dwarf (3.5 pounds) just neutered 16 month old. He is very territorial and fairly aggressive but that seems to be changing as time from neuter increases.
Is t…[Read more]

I don’t think you have to worry about long term effects, if he doesn’t have any stomach upset soon, I think he would be in the clear. Its like overindulging on a treat.
