Oh wow, eight kits! 🙂 Thank you for rescuing mama bun! She was very lucky.
The simplest way to see so all buns get the food they need would be to weigh them regularly and keep a weight diary. If you see that somebunny is falling behind in weight, you could feed some extra pellets once or twice per day in a place away from the other buns. I…[Read more]

Thank you! I called and talked to the rescue I got them from. They don’t think she is stressed from the environment and said some bunnies lose patches when molting? I think the rest is just her diva personality LOL but I maybe try the melatonin if it get worse.

Thank you Dana! This was very helpful bc life in the bathroom was getting tricky for our whole family.
Will check in with you post-neuter. Our first bunny is spending alot of time in front of the bathroom door. He’ll leave a dropping there but mostly just seems curious. We always wanted him to have a buddy, and we are just in love with our new…[Read more]

All right, I know this has been discussed a fair amount but I wanted to post anyway due to a slightly unique situation.
Long story short – my friend, partner, and I rescued a lost/abandoned (probably escaped “livestock”) rabbit in December. Two days after bringing her inside, she had a litter of EIGHT kits. I am happy to say that all kits are…[Read more]

Hey everyone, just a little update. He seems totally normal today (I noticed the breathing sounds about 5 days ago). He’s eating, drinking, pooping, playing, etc. I can really only hear the strange noise if I put my ear right next to his face and he is sniffing. It sounds like a little whistling sound. I can’t hear it if I’m far away from him o…[Read more]

Some people hand-make hay feeders out of cloth and some people just cut some holes in cardboard boxes for hay feeders. Depending on the size of the litterbox, you could also just forgo the hay feeder and put hay directly in the litterbox as well.

Urine exiting upon binkying is actually spraying — a few things come to mind:
- Though rare, sometimes neuters can be unsuccessful or there can be some medical conditions which facilitate hormonal behaviors in rabbits who have seemingly gone through a neuter already. This would be medical-related, so having your rabbit assessed by a…

I have a neutered mini lop with a major urinating issue. Every time he binkies, he throws urine (usually on me!). He’s not spraying.  There’s no odor. I’m loathe to get rid of him but if I can’t get a handle on this, I don’t know if I have a choice. Not sure if it’s medical or behavior.

I used to be a regular here over a decade ago, but then life changed and I got busy and just never really came back. I had two dutch lionhead crosses, Bisto and Oxo. They would have been 13 at the beginning of March but sadly we lost them both over the past few weeks.
Which leads me to wonder, those of you who got buns after losing your…[Read more]

Hey y’all! Having a little trouble with hay
So, my litterbox, which is the one Jumping Jack likes the most, is hooded. That means I can’t put a hay rack next to it that’s accessible from inside the box
I had this little apple stick hay feeder, and I hung it in her litterbox. Then she ate all the hay, then she dismantled the feeder
So is there a…[Read more]

You can put down some cheap area rugs, with low pile, and that should be enough. I’d avoid those interlocking foam “shop mats”, which while effective and relatively cheap, are easily chewed up and ingested.

9 degrees C would be ok for say half an hour – an hour (since it’s the first time outside), depending on how windy and wet it is, of course. If the grass is wet you should dry their undersides with a towel when you take them in.

I have been looking locally for plastic baby stacking cups For EVER. Walmart, toy stores, dollar stores, you name it, no luck. It’s like they evaporated when I come looking. And my big boy Loki NEEDS his toys!
Well today, while sitting in Walgreens, waiting for some scripts, I literally tripped over a Winnie the Pooh stacking cup and 3 sh…[Read more]

I just LOVE the coats on the Rex bunnehs. I got to hold a Black Otter Rex once, and he was just the smoothest, most adorable bun bun. Outside of my babies of course.

A hormonal surge/puberty will not suddenly cause a rabbit to not eat hay. There are some things you can do to promote hay appetite: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Hay#Encouraging_your_rabbit_to_eat_hay
In addition, there can be a self-promoting cycle rabbits get into where their selective hay eating leads to dental discomfort which then leads to…[Read more]

How much has the hay eating stopped? Completely or just a little? How often are the soft poops?
I would probably get him checked out by a rabbit savy vet to be safe, decrease in diet amd change in poops can suggest GI problems and slow downs. Eating less hay can also be an early symptoms to molar spurs, depending on the age of your bun.
