prince dorian the bun replied to the topic *BONDED* Dorian and Miu (formerly Lillian) Bonding thread in the forum BONDING 4 years, 5 months ago

Miu does get a bit aggressive, there’s a short video clip here on my Instagram of a part of theirlast interaction, it’s the last slide: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca5zhUVp1nC/?utm_medium=copy_link

I think Dorian looks pretty happy and curious initially. She does too. She’s half lop so her ears don’t usually go up like his (they sort of V), so…[Read more]

Oh and prebonding. They are next to each other and share the same freeroam space. I switch blankets and food bowls, they share toys except Dorian’s favorite.  I also do poo transfers as the litters are not right size to switch easily. I tried introducing her to his stuffed elephant but she just sniffed it and looked at it funny. He washed it when…[Read more]

Aside from Dorian’s hunger striking, nothing really sounds too bad! Honestly!

The grooming struggle is unfortunately something they need to work out on their own. The main intervention I will do with grooming requests are petting, as I mentioned, but of course that won’t work as well if one bun doesn’t want human pets. If the nipping starts to…[Read more]

So, having the bun sin side-by-side pens for them to get acquainted is great. I suggest setting up side-by-side x-pens so you have a buffer of space between them so they can’t nip noses through the fence. Then each bun has a “home base”. Bonding can take a few weeks in cases of easy bonds, or as long as a few months in tougher bonds, so it’s…[Read more]

I was also going to suggest the squealing tip! Kind of like a high-pitched “EEEEK”. Buns nip each other through fur so it doesn’t really hurt, so they may not realize they are hurting us when they nip.

You can use timeouts with rabbits, but not in the way most people would think. Using a timeout as a punishment doesn’t work because, as Wick said, they don’t really understand that they are being punished for X behavior. Instead, a timeout can be used as a tool to break a cycle. For example, bunny is obsessively doing something they shouldn’t and…[Read more]

I would be worried about him jumping out. Are you able to close it up? Most pet strollers I’ve seen have a screen that zips shut and secures the pet inside.

Otherwise, he doesn’t look stressed in the videos. He seems to be curious about what’s going on. Some bunnies do seem to settle in and enjoy the ride a little bit. I don’t know if it’s the…[Read more]

Personally, I only have experience using the syrup kind. The cherry and grape flavors contain sucralose, which is a “safer” sugar substitute. Dosage is 2mg/kg. Have your vet help you calculate the proper amount based on your bunny’s weight.

@Wick & Fable had a nice thread on it here: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/childrens-benadryl-tx/

Hi everyone. I know that rabbits can develop enterotoxemia from certain medications, but can rabbits contract C. Diff from humans? For example, if a rabbit owner had a C. Diff infection, would they still be able to interact with and care for the rabbit? Does C. Diff only affect the rabbit if their normal gut flora is compromised?

Id say Wilbert likes your partner. Rabbits often communicate by nipping. Nipping can mean “stop petting me”, or “get out of my way”  but it often means “Hey! I dont remember telling you it was ok to stop petting me”. Digging on a person often also means some kind of effort at affectionate interaction. And when a bun pees on a person, its a…[Read more]

Hi, all hope you are having a wonderful day! I had a quick question about my previous rabbit who died a few months ago and I have no idea where to put this so I’m putting it here. Ok, so Snowball was about 3-4 when he died. Before he died he had diarrhea but got over that then weeks late I think he had a stroke of some type of something because…[Read more]
