    Thanks!!!

    & one last question (sorry @DanaNM )

there was a lot of poops scattered about their room this morning, I suspect Dorian as he’s more of a climber than Miu (she probably responsible for the ones near the litter though). It was pretty musky too. Is this territorial? Anything to be worried about? At least the peeing seems to have stopped,…[Read more]

Since you are in Texas (which has confirmed cases), I wouldn’t rule out RHDV. It tends to spread in the spring when insects start to become active.

If it’s not too late, your vet can have them tested for it…

There is a vaccine for the virus. The safest thing would be to have any new rabbit vaccinated before you bring them home. Annoyingly it…[Read more]

Thanks for your response. I checked and the last recorded case of RHDV2 in domesticated rabbits in Texas (where we live) was April 2021. There was no sign of hemorrhage in any of the bunnies. The garage was never originally a garage. Our house was the model home when this neighborhood was built in the late 1980s and the room was used for an…[Read more]

oops sorry i forgot to respond!

it actually was only happening around the time that she usually naps, so that makes sense. i gave her some gas medicine at that time after my other post and by the 2nd dose she was up and eating again. she is doing much much better, she’s been eating a LOT of hay the last couple days and her poop has gone back to…[Read more]

@BunnyBabe I’m going to start a new thread for you and lock this thread!

This was intended to be just for people to copy the template, so it’s gotten a bit confusing.

    “Hey everyone

I am hoping to get some advice/opinions on two of my rabbits.

    1. The first rabbit is Peanut. She is a 5-year-old Netherland dwarf. As a lot of you probably know, based on “Netherland dwarf,” she is very moody. Healthwise, she has been great up until recently. I had to take her to the vet bec…

I’m so sorry for your loss, how horrible. 🙁

Are you in an area with RHDV2? This sounds very much like it could be Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV2), with all of them dying so quickly and close together. The virus has been spreading quickly throughout North America since early 2020, and can be tracked in on shoes, brought in by insects, and even…[Read more]

My daughter has had 3 young rabbits since October of 2020. All of them seemed fine and then suddenly started showing signs of illness/distress and died within hours of first exhibiting problems. We rushed the first two to emergency vet clinic and they died there. The third one just began convulsing and died before we could do anything. After the…[Read more]

Congratulations!! I’m so happy for you, Dorian, and Miu! And bonding is always stressful, and especially for first time bonders it can seem like a never-ending process!

I’m going to edit your thread title to say they were a success!

Are they spayed? Are they chasing with ears back and tail up? Or ears forward?

It sounds like they could be fighting. If you’ve had them together since they were babies and they are not spayed, that means they were not properly bonded and their hormones have caused their bond to break. If that is the case, you’ll need to separate them, get them…[Read more]

    Hi there, welcome!

The most important thing you need to do is get Halsey spayed. It is very difficult (often impossible) to bond rabbits when one is un-altered because their hormones will prevent a proper bond from forming. Holland will mount her relentlessly until she is spayed, unlike in a normal bonding session where mounting is part of…[Read more]

I would definitely let the vet know about this new development, it could indicate the infection is spreading to her eye, in which case you need to get her on a systemic antibiotic ASAP.

This has been a huge concern with me as well! I have four rabbits as well, and the vets around me that offer the vaccine are all charging around 120 per rabbit, because they want to do an exam first. $80 for the second shot does seem really high though, I think most vets are charging more for the first one that includes the exam, and then between…[Read more]

    Hey everyone

This outbreak has me really worried. I have four bunnies, and my current vet told me that all of my bunnies would need to get two shots at 80$ a piece. Currently, I am a full-time student, so I am taking care of my bunnies with my leftover financial aid, and 90% of it just went to vet bills for two of my rabbits. So, I literally can…[Read more]

Holland is neutered but Halsey isnt spayed. Ive had halsey for about 6 days now and ive kept them mostly seperate (they can still sniff eachother…[Read more]

I have two bunnies the same age both females, had them both for a year now.

This morning just like every morning I let them out of this play pen to  let them free roam the house for the day. For the past 2 hours it’s been the one bunny chasing the other, not constant chasing though. The one would start chasing the other around the room and the ot…[Read more]
