Chayalin started the topic Stopping Cross-Species Litterbox Use (cat-bunny) in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 4 months ago

So my cat and bunny have been free-roaming my master bedroom space (closet/office/bedroom) since December, and it’s been bun-space since August. They both have seperate litterboxes with the same litter (Yesterday’s News) and the boxes are in different areas/separated by doors when we can. The cat REGULARLY uses the bun’s litterbox, destroying…[Read more]

@Glenn I’m not sure I could see a bunny as being a good sleeping companion. All that poop, digging and sheet chewing, lol. Then again, the cats aren’t much better 🤣

I’ve hopefully helped a lamb today. There’s a big house block near my place that keeps a few sheep. Today when I walked past I noticed they had two lambs. One was doing zoomies and…[Read more]

oh okay! the main reason i was worried is because her poop has been normal the past few days, but since she’s acting normally otherwise that’s probably it.

i didnt even think to check her chest for shedding haha she still has a big bald spot on her belly from when she was spayed 😂 she is still shedding a little bit, when i pick her up the hair…[Read more]

It can take quite a while for the poop to get back to normal after a bout of stasis. You can keep giving simethicone baby gasdrops if you want to.

Rabbits often molt from different parts of their body sequentially, so it’s good if you brush her even if it seems like she’s stopped molting. My bun molted like crazy a few weeks ago, when I was…[Read more]

Sorry, no intention of offering him to be bred, i purchased him from a breeder who specialised in his breed. This would be the person i would have a discussion with.

he is already a blackbelt in spinning and peeing but has not done this for sometime as his litter training has become almost perfect at home.

As suggested, i think i will try…[Read more]

Please note the topic of intentional breeding is prohibited on this forum and so do not make further mention of it.

I understand not wanting to “change him” to suit your needs, and you also acknowledge that how he is literally right now is likely stressful and frustrating for him. Pet rabbits are a result of human domestication, so we have…[Read more]

I guess it depends on whether or not the behavior will escalate before it calms down. A lot of unneutered males do eventually calm down… eventually. Most people don’t want to wait it out that long though. LOL It can take a few years. The last straw is usually when they start doing 360 degree cartwheel pees (i.e., spraying).

    There is nothing…[Read more]

Ah, I see. Other types of bacteria are sensitive to penicillin, so perhaps the other antibiotic was unnecessary? As long as the infection cleared up as a result, then stopping the other antibiotic may not have been the end of the world.

The only antibiotic I can think of that starts with a “c” would be Ciprofloxacin.

Thank you for your input, i had more of a concern that he may start to nibble or tear apart any soft toys, he isnt destructive but does like to pee on things.
would you recommend giving him this toy all day and night or only letting him have it when he is supervised?
i like the idea of using an old shirt for him to smell.

    i say its sexual…[Read more]

First, I would not view it necessarily as sexual as the act of humping is used in many context for rabbits (e.g., female rabbits will hump other female rabbits). That being said, regardless, it can be inconvenient at the minimum to be the sole target.

If he’s not actually eating a stuffed animal, I would not be concerned with providing one that…[Read more]

    Hello,

So Tiny Oscar has taken a large interest in me, no body else. He tries his hardest to hump my arms when i lay with him, or now my legs, he climbs on me then pounces (like a cat) at my arms and clings on waving his ‘carrot’ like a dirty trophy.
Now, i love him….. but not like that but he doesnt take no for an answer. I have tried many many…[Read more]
