Tuesday morning I decorated Clara’s room with fresh flowers. I wanted it to feel like we were in a beautiful garden, just me and my baby girl. I’d like to tell you we spent hours cuddling, giving each other kisses, and…[Read more]

Hi guys, I’m looking for some advice if possible. Misty started sneezing badly last Wednesday, going no longer than 5 minutes without a sneezing fit. By Friday the sneezes become wet and so she went straight into our rabbit vet. They heard slight crackles on her lungs and so diagnosed an upper respiratory infection. She is currently on a…[Read more]

Hi fellow bun parents,
Puff is an 8yr old mini lop who has been quite healthy for the most part. A few days back we noticed decreased appetites hence started feeding her critical care.
We noticed some weird white stuff on her lower incisors, and it feels hard almost like calcium buildup. Initially we suspect it might be pus from an…[Read more]

Dorian is definitely the MOST dramatic!
I take my 4 to get their first Medgene dose tomorrow. It’s a 2 hour drive but I know I will be so relieved once they get it! And of course after our move I know they can handle some driving. I’m also super thankful that this vet is putting on a lower cost vaccine clinic… it’s still expensive IMO ($80 per…[Read more]

My Bam absolutely loved fennel! I grow herb fennel myself, it’s a variety that’s all tops and no bulbs 😃 Bam loved bulb fennel too, though. When the price was good I used to buy several kilos, cut the bulbs upp in slices and dry them. They made great healthy treats.

Thanks both of you.
The weird thing is Dorian has roughly 4 molts a year, this is the only one he has trouble with and he isn’t even molting heavy, I barely got a couple pieces of fluff after giving him a once over this morning. Miu is a bit sheddier, but nothing crazy yet either. I certainly have had molts where you could stuff a pillow case…[Read more]

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic Bunny Farts in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 4 months ago
Yes, bunnies with a sensitive tummy can toot, no matter the size. Our previous rabbit Breintje was a Netherland Dwarf, and that breed is prone to upset tummies. He had a very sensitive system as well and he often had a loudly bubbling stomach followed by farts that just sounded like air whistling out. The smell was a lot more impressive,…[Read more]

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic How do I get my bunny yo stop biting me so hard? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 4 months ago
Yes, I squeal softly too. Our little girl Molly is finding her confidence and sometimes she has a bit too much rabbittude.
If I sit on the floor and she thinks I’m in the way she tries to nudge or nip me away. If she nudges me I move a couple of centimetres.
If she immediately nips me I give a soft squeal and don’t move. If she persists I give…[Read more]

I’m glad she is doing better!
And yes fennel has a licorice flavor! I don’t care for it very much myself, but the bunnies love it! I wish when you bought it in the store they didn’t trim all the tops off, that’s their favorite part.

I second that the squeal works! Young bunnies especially are still learning and tend to explore the world by nibbling, so it helps them realize “hey, that hurts!”.

I’m glad he’s feeling better! And yes good to be vigilant for sure! sounds like he was having some gas pain that you helped him pass.
And awwww, yeah the little brown bun in my pic is one of my rainbow bridge buns, Bunston. 🙂 <3

I agree it sounds like it could be molting stress. I would keep pushing hay as much as possible.
Fennel is very good for upset bunny tummies and helps with gas. Mint can also be good (but my buns don’t like mint too much). Whenever I have a finicky bun I also like to get some carrot tops, just because they are their favorite and they are very…[Read more]
