It sounds like she is still just settling in! Two weeks is really no time at all. I would keep playing “hard to get”, as you have been. If she nips you, make the “eeeek eeek” sound to let her know she hurt you. If she gets really nippy towards hands, it helps to wear gloves and then try not to react when she nips (aside from the “EEEK”…[Read more]

Yes, that’s common. You may even see poops like beads on a string when they’ve swallowed hair. The hair irritates the stomach, and you can expect all kinds of funny tummy symptoms.

Eating hay is very important during moult to help their system. Make hay extra attractive to them by hanging a hay rack over their box, or put a handful of hay in the…[Read more]

Hi everyone! I just recently rescued a 4 year old female Netherland dwarf. Honestly my boy Gatsby picked her out as I was trying to get him bonded. Their bonding went smoothly and I’ve had them both back with me for two weeks now after they spent a week bonding at the shelter. Gatsby is 5 now and I’ve had him since he was a baby. He’s my best…[Read more]

I buy the 9 pound box of Oxbows Timothy hay from amazon or I buy hay from a rabbit rescue center.

@Dana: I’m so happy that there’s a vaccine, finally! I’m rather worried about RHD2 because there was no vaccine available outside of Europe. It’s a dreadful disease 😥

So happy that your buns got it, even if it needed a long stressful car ride!

@Dorian: Thanks for the well-wishes, and the same to you! You’ve got a beautiful new bunny, and I…[Read more]

I give my buns a bit of fresh pineapple when they are molting. The enzymes in the pineapple helps break down the fur and reduces risk of GI blockage.

Long car trips are never fun, glad they all did well with their vaccine and the journey Dana! I haven’t been able to get it for Dorian and Miu yet. Hoping it’s because no local cases.

Sorry about your Nanna Azerane. It’s never easy to watch the slow decline.

When my bun has stomach issues from molting I find on top of the advice Bam gave plus a stomach massage really helps. Search for Howcast bunny stomach massage on youtube and you should see a good tutorial. I often end up with a pile of poops on my lap and a much happier bun.

I just wanted to share here that all 4 of my bunnies (ages 2, 4, 6, and 13) got their first Medgene vaccine dose yesterday and they did amazingly! I’m so relieved!

They were unhappy in the car (4 hours roundtrip!) but started eating right away when we got home and are all acting normal today. The vet who ran the clinic said she had vaccinated…[Read more]

Many buns get some GI trouble when they molt. It’s important to brush off as much hair as possible and keep an eye so they eat like they should. You can serve their greens freshly rinsed and dripping wet increase their water intake. It’s good to have simethicone baby gasdrops on hand as a first-aid measure if they start showing signs of gas.
