    Hello everyone,

so I only today discovered that my bunny’s teeth may have overgrown, the main issue is that he literally refuses to eat hay and I don’t know what to do about it, I tried buying different kind of hay but he still won’t eat it at all. He only eats vegetables and the bunnies food you can find in the supermarket.. although I know…[Read more]

I’m sorry you are going through this.

Herbs and leafy greens are very low in calories, so they wouldn’t help her gain weight. They could still be nice for her as enrichment.

When I had a poopy-butt prone bun I used a brand of pellets for sensitive rabbits, cuni complete sensitive. It’s available in Europe and Canada, I dont know about the…[Read more]

My 11 month old bunny had a bad case of cecal dysbiosis when she was a baby. She’s still very sensitive and keeps going into stasis very easily. She was never given pellets or greens because of the constant tummy issues and she has been on an all grass hay diet. We had an emergency vet visit last night and the vet said she could use to gain some…[Read more]

I agree with Bam, they should be fine! And yes seeds won’t need any additional nutrients until they are ready to transplant. Plus, your bunnies are the best compost makers in all the land! Rabbit manure is really great for plants and is sought after by many gardeners! I often just chuck a handful of bunny poops in my potted plants. 🙂

    In many…[Read more]

I dont use pesticides, but I do use fertilizer, not all organic. I mostly use “natural” fertilizers aka manure, but it can’t be labled organic unless the animals that produce the manure (cows, horses and chickens in my case) live totally organic lives. I use some semi-organic fertilizer too.

I don’t think it matters as long as there isn’t actual…[Read more]

Thanks again for the advice all! I have been following it and she seems to be improving with her hay eating a little! She enjoys the meadow hay and so does Glenn, they are both enjoying fresh dandelion leaves daily too.

I have another question, a little different but diet related so I thought I would post it here as to not clog the feeds up.

    So…[Read more]

Is this for one bunny? That just seems like a lot for one sitting. As for oats, they won’t hurt anything. They are just “fattening”, so you don’t want to feed them a lot of them on a regular basis.

    Hi everyone!

Tomorrow is my bunny Kuro’s 5th birthday, and I wanna do something special for him.

I already plan to take him shopping for a bunch of his favorite chew toys, but I also wanted to make him a bunny safe cake!

I found this recipe from Chewy, and I’m just wondering if it’s safe for him to eat. Here are the ingredients:

    • ¼ cup rolled…

Corn starch seems like a safer deal! Thank you so much for helping me. It is so nice to get support. I feel more confident now. She is doing just fine and I can live with the smell for a while until it dissipates.

Thank you.  I think hearing from you I am just going to live with the smell, which seems to be her own pee mixed in with motor oil. I’ll slowly start to use a comb and groom her as we progress., after she’s settled in.

Thank you. She has started grooming herself and today I took a comb and just introduced her to it. I think I’m going to let the rest go. The vet offered to groom her while she’s sedated for spay on May 16. I don’t want to risk anything else. Thank you. I am too inexperienced and need to just focus on building trust. I appreciate your response.

It’s possible that it could be something in their diet they are sensitive to. Since they aren’t related though, it seems odd that they would both be having the same issue. As Dana mentioned, are you sure it is both of them?

Xeno 450 is ivermectin. Adverse reactions are not common in rabbits. When they do occur, they are neurological.

After one of my past buns passed I opted to foster for a while before getting another bun. It was really nice because I wasn’t ready to adopt again right away, but having the other buns around did help a lot. Do whatever feels right to you though!

Hmm, are the cecotropes they are leaving behind otherwise normal looking? I’m wondering if they are just producing extra, but otherwise normal, cecotropes, or if they are having some cecal dybiosis.

How long did you have them on a hay-only diet? Sometimes it can take several weeks to work.  And do they get any other treats, veggies, fruit,…[Read more]

Yes, IF you do resort to a bath, I would not use Dawn soap. That would be way too harsh.

Thanks everyone.  She definitely got dealt a poor hand when it came to her health, but I feel like we won the lottery with her happy behaviour.

I’ve been going through all the videos and photos we’ve taken of her over the years (it turns out that we took A LOT.  Like, in the thousands, haha) and being both happy and sad.

    I miss her a lot.

    But n…[Read more]
