Hi everyone, I noticed a few days ago that my 2.5 year old Lionhead’s nose was a bit damp. The discharge was just clear and I could just see it right under his nose. This morning, I saw more of the clear discharge. He is eating, drinking, and pooping normally. I do feel like he is laying down more and he is breathing slightly faster, but it d…[Read more]

Thank you everyone for your thoughts about my Nanna 🙂
Cute bunny Easter supplies! Fortunately I didn’t have any money to spend this year, lol.
Ellie, I hope Owen came through his tie-wrap eating episode ok. Bunnies get into the silliest things.
I have been having major “new pet needs” recently. At least that’s what I’m calling it. I’ve been…[Read more]

No luck with the training or treating after medicating yet. However I tried a different approach this evening, instead of wrapping him in a towel, I just held him against my body sitting upright on his rump with his back feet facing forward. This actually worked a lot better. He still struggled, but nowhere near as much and he wasn’t as twitchy. I…[Read more]

Yes that’s normal. My Luna is only 7 and 1/2 but she does have heart and kidney problems. She often sleeps in very contorted positions that you wouldn’t normally expect to see except from a live rabbit. So it’s always a little scary.

Yes, this is normal. They are old, they are going to be tired. And yes, sometimes that results in dead bunny flop naps.

We recently lost one of our rabbits (in a bonded pair). Blueberry (the widow) at first acted normal so we decided it would be best to adopt.
It’s been about 2 weeks and we recently adopted an older lady bun who is so sweet and absolutely adores Blueberry. He is free range and we’ve been letting him be out and about. Squirrel has access to be out…[Read more]

I took my almost 15 year old bunny in today for her check up. She’s doing fabulous. No health problems at all. But, I forgot to ask about her sleeping. In the last year she’s been taking naps a few times a week, so sprawled out that I’ve had to check if she was still breathing. Is that normal for senior rabbits? I’ve never had one male it this old! -
LBJ10 replied to the topic overgrown teeth in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 3 months ago
Yep, too late at this point. The need to be trimmed… then work on healthy hay consumption. Regular hay eating can actually help fix some alignment problems, but the teeth have to be “set” to do that, meaning they can’t be overgrown like that. He won’t be able to chew properly to wear them down.

Synthetic fertilizers won’t hurt anything as long as they aren’t on the plants when you serve them. Just be careful with what you’re buying. Sometimes fertilizers will come combined with other things like herbicides or pre-emergents, so make sure to read the label.

Our vet mentioned critical care as well but she’s very picky with it… She would have to be syringe fed which stresses her out. I haven’t seen the cookies anywhere but I’ll have a look. Things like critical care in general are very hard to find here. We get our packs from the vet and they only have Oxbow Critical Care in one flavor.
Yes, she was…[Read more]

2 years ago I got Skittles (gray) and Luci (tan), my Holland Lop girls. I got them both spayed and after a month started on the bonding. I tried everyway I read about and kept their cages close, did bunny dates, swapper x-pens, etc. Even after 2 years they still do not get along. About 8 months ago we bought Loki, our Dutch boy. He is amazing and…[Read more]

He isn’t eating hay because his teeth are preventing him from eating properly. When the front teeth are overgrown like that it’s called “malocclusion” and is due to a misalignment in the teeth. There could also be some misalignment with his molars, so you should have a rabbit savvy vet do a full dental exam.
At this point you should get them…[Read more]

Critical care is often used to help senior buns gain weight, I wonder if you could supplement her with some Critical care, or critical care cookies?
There are also recovery foods made by other brands, you might try a few to see which one agrees with her the best.
Often buns will be sensitive to a certain ingredient in pellets, so trying…[Read more]

I think they sell those pellets at a nearby pet store. We’ll give them a try and see how she does. She can’t have alfalfa hay because it makes her gassy but we’ll try oats if the pellets don’t work out. Thank you!
