I personally don’t know much about soft cut hay or Haybox, but my only thought would be is that if it’s a very soft hay that it might not be particularly abrasive for their teeth which they need to keep them well worn. But again, I’m not too familiar with soft cut hays as we don’t really have any here.

Luna has one of these. When I adopted her almost six years ago she had it and it stayed the same size for a long time. Eventually early last year when she did present with E. cuniculi the spot had grown quite substantially in size. I was told by my vet that the spots can be present in rabbits that are carrying E. cuniculi but not necessarily…[Read more]

Sorry for your loss 😥 Even if they’re old it’s always too soon, isn’t it?

I love hedgies! I had one many years ago. I’m sorry for your loss Sonn. That was a really good age though… but I know it doesn’t make it hurt any less.

I’m very glad to hear the boys are doing better. It’s just sad that it took them so long to figure out what was wrong with Tater Tot. He probably wouldn’t have had to stay at the vet so long had…[Read more]

    Hi,

I bought sample boxes from Haybox and my rabbit he went straight to the soft cut timothy hay box and even when i mixed the box around he still went back to that one.

I just wondered if anyone has tried HayBox and recommend going for the Blended one so its best of both worlds? Or just buy 10kg of the soft cut as i know he went for that…[Read more]

I found the Teach N Treat to be too easy. I have had better luck with ones designed for dogs.

From what I can see, I will agree with Wick on this one. It looks like an “atypical” partial heterochromia, where there is just a little section of blue and the rest of the iris is brown. The gene responsible for this is called the Vienna gene. Two copies gives you a BEW. Only one copy produces a rabbit with varying degrees of white (sometimes…[Read more]

I don’t know if it’s that it’s spring, or that he’s hit puberty, or what, but my neutered rabbit keeps attempting to hump me. He didn’t show any of this kind of behavior when I adopted him. He’s also started spraying, when before he’d almost exclusively pee in his litter box. Most of the time it will be because I’m cleaning up his territorial…[Read more]

It can be a natural marking in Vienna-marked rabbits called partial heterochromia, which occurs in one or both eyes. In formal terms, the marking is blue; not white. You can see if it matches here: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Vienna-marked_rabbits

    Here’s an example:

E cuniculi would be more plausible in that case. It is often transmitted from the mum to the fetus and in young rabbits it tends to manifest as clouding of the lense or white spots in the eyes.

EC is common in rabbits, but in the majority of carriers it never becomes symptomatic. It’s treatable with Panacur (fenbendazole), a slow-acting…[Read more]

A white spot in the eye can be a sign of e cuniculi, or of a bacterial infection such as pasteurella. A very good vet can sometimes do a fine needle aspiration to see if the spot contains bacteria. Not all vets can do this however.

The white spot in your bun’s eye doesn’t look like it’s pus. It’s more like a cloudiness?
