Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic Bonding journal of Owen and Molly in the forum BONDING 4 years, 3 months ago
Today they had two shorter dates, but it didn’t go all that smoothly. Owen is humping a lot again and Molly runs away every time. This causes quite a bit of excitement, and he honks while chasing her. It doesn’t help that he nearly always face-humps her, and she shoots out from under him.
The good news is that he actually managed to locate her…[Read more]

Hi all!
I have recently gone back to volunteering at a shelter in my area, and my role is to provide enrichment for the rabbits in the shelter (i.e. “play with the bunnies!”) as well as help some of the more fearful rabbits get used to more human interaction.
For the rabbits that are scared and hide when I come near, I tend to just sit in the…[Read more]

Yeah, I saw the Revolution recommendation on there and wondered about that. I mean, fleas could potentially be a vector. But fleas feeding on an infected wild rabbit would have to somehow make it onto your bunny. If they are kept indoors, then this is extremely unlikely… if not impossible.

I agree, that box looks too small.

LBJ10 replied to the topic should I screen for EC in Bun Jovi? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 3 months ago
EC is probably less likely in this case. Arthritis could explain a lot of this. Plus he IS 13… so there could be some other age-related things going on. I suppose it doesn’t hurt to have him tested, but I don’t know if you would want to take him to the vet just for that. Maybe something the ask about next time you’re there?

I don’t know what specifically a bumbox is, but yes, that is small. Rather than basing purchases off what YouTubers have, consider what would be best for your rabbit. It sounds like you understand that more space is needed, so go with that. That box is definitely too small.
There is some good information here:…[Read more]

Hi guys!!
I’m wanting to get my bunny a new litterbox, I normally would just buy a cat one but I was watching cinnabun on youtube and they have a bumbox. I thought this might be a little too small but I wanted to get a second opinion or some better options before I bought a new one. I would appreciate any advice!
This is the link for the bumbox…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I mentioned this in Meg’s thread about Teddy, but would love everyone’s thoughts on whether Bun Jovi could be having some EC symptoms or whether it’s more likely old age/arthritis.
So Bun Jovi is 13+, and he in more respects is doing great. He eats and poops well, doesn’t seem in pain, snuggles with Myra etc. Over the few months…[Read more]

Agree with Bam about Revolution. There is a product called Vectra 3D that can be safely dosed by a vet (our vet back in SB figured out a regime because we were having a lot of deaths from Myxo) that does repel insects before they bite (as opposed to Revolution, which kills things already feeding on the bun). But if your buns are housed inside and…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Bunny suddenly peeing on his beds in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 3 months ago
Some buns really like to pee on soft things, so beds don’t really work for them. Is it restricted to the beds, or is he having accidents elsewhere? Peeing in new places can also indicate a UTI or other bladder issue.

DanaNM replied to the topic Humping for no reason? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 3 months ago
I just wanted to echo what Wick brought up, that it may be very challenging to have a stable bond with one rabbit unspayed. The mounting you are seeing is hormone driven, not for “no reason”. Mounting is a normal part of the bonding process as well, but when both rabbits are spayed/neutered, you will see it calm down during the bonding process.…[Read more]

In terms of unvaccinated indoor rabbits (which mine essentially are because the Australian vaccine doesn’t cover RHDV2), the biggest risk factors are flies/mosquitoes and your shoes/pants. If you live urban and don’t go walking in parks/nature areas there’s probably not a great deal of risk from shoes. I do walk in parks a lot that have wild…[Read more]

Hey!
Sorry your bunny is unwell.
I would just firstly make sure your rabbit it super rabbit savvy and very rabbit experienced before accepting a diagnosis and medication from them. Its good they are doing bloods and urine first. I have had experience with vets that aren’t that rabbit experienced and it often ends in misdiagnosis or suggestions…[Read more]
