Sorry no one replied to you, but I believe you received attention on another online rabbit forum! How are things going?

Growing up together, siblings or not, means nothing in the world of lifelong rabbit bonds. Rabbits will fight and mate among family so any notion of childhood bons are lost.

A stable, proper bond will not include ANY mixed signals, as you’re seeing, so no, they are not bonded, or at least it is an unstable/weak bond that needs work before…[Read more]

some advise needed please. We homes these two beautiful lionhead does a month ago. They came from different mothers but were the same age and from the same buck. Both litters were raised in the same pen so we assumed they were well bonded. They were fine up until last week when one day of torrential rain meant no run time and hutch bound all…[Read more]

This is beyond what online users can assist you with. Please take your rabbit to a rabbit-savvy exotic veterinarian as soon as possible to have the issue assessed and properly treated.

For help finding a rabbit vet, please look at websites for rabbit rescues in your area and/or see here:…[Read more]

    QUICK UPDATE!

Frida went in for her teeth filling down a week ago and unfortunately 2 molars were wobbly and infected so they ended up removing one completely and almost getting the other one out but couldnt in the end! Nightmare as she will have to have more surgery in the future. This changed our plan of going to the in-laws as I didnt want to…[Read more]

I was going to suggest grooming days as well! The Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter rescue in CA used to do “Spa Buné” days. They also do “Hoppy Hour” each month, but they have to require all buns to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and it’s a lot of work (basically all volunteers help out). It does raise a lot of money though!

That sounds like a good plan! And yes I think that since your space is hard to neutralize that could have contributed to the fights last time.

The nice thing is that once they are doing great in the neutral space for 48 hrs, you don’t have to supervise them constantly there, so you could set them up in the kitchen, supervise over the weekend,…[Read more]

Hmmm, well in some sense that’s good, because there is no cure for megacolon, but that does leave more unanswered questions.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but has the vet done x-rays of the mouth (for dental issues) and abdomen (to see what’s going on with the cecum)? That would probably be my next step if not. Imagining could help give…[Read more]

Since this has been persistent for at least day I would bring her to the vet today (assuming she isn’t back to normal now). GI slowdowns in rabbits can become serious very quickly, and early treatment is important.

Glad you took her in! Rapid onset of a behavior change like that is often an early sign of illness, so good looking out!

Did your vet give you any follow up care at home?

Thanks for the update! Glad she is doing well!  And yes definitely get her vaccinated ASAP. The advise from the vet is a bit surprising, because I find it very unlikely that a rabbit that was dumped and unspayed would have already been vaccinated.

Also, FYI, female rabbits have a very high rate of reproductive cancer (around 75% by age 3-4), so…[Read more]

Thanks for the response, she is doing amazing and put on weight and the scratch on her back healed to where you would never noticed it. My vet advised against it not knowing if she was already vaccinated or not(not knowing if she was dumped, escaped, etc)  and told me to wait a 9 months to a year incase she was vaccinated and to come back and get…[Read more]

It’s possible for stasis to turn into “long stasis”, where the bunny seems to get a little better and then regresses again. It can take a long time sometimes for them to recover. This is usually when they had a really bad episode though.

Ah, thank you! Yes, when a bunny has bad posture while they’re peeing, out of discomfort. The information is really helpful, thank you!
