Hehe, ditto: why go outside? The bunnies are indoors… ^_^
Yes, I really love fantasy books! I go through 2 or 3 a month, very thick ones sometimes. It’s difficult for me to hold a real paper book, so I have audiobooks on while I knit or embroider.
Breintje and I spent many a night on the sofa with a blanket, a craft project and a good book.…[Read more]

Zimba is on primarily orchard grass and some Timothy. I’d say he eats 1.5-2x of his body size of hay per day. His staple veggies are romaine lettuce and cilantro about a cup in total per day. He gets no more than 20 pellets of oxbow adult rabbit food. He lives in my living room (attached). Due to his tummy problem he doesn’t get any fruits. His…[Read more] -

I’m very sorry you are dealing with this.
The bad bug she got couldve come from anywhere. There are plenty of common bacteria that are opportunistic -i ebacteria that are harmless under normal circumstances, but become pathogenic if they happen to find the right (or, from our perspective, wrong) environment. The immune defense can only cope with…[Read more]

For some reason I can’t edit my post, but I wanted to add that Owen still is relaxed when they’re indoors. He’s still mirroring her, flopping next to her and grooming her occasionally.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your replies. We went to the Ginger’s vet yesterday, we are trying one last resort antibiotic since she’s still fighting (still bright eyes, zest for treats, alert). We are doing the gentamicin via injection (she did the eye drop route for her nose issue-it didnt help). This version will go throughout her body.…[Read more]

Can you provide information on the care he’s receiving? This would include daily routine, what his set-up is like, what are the components and quantities of his diet, etc…? Kidney issue aside, it would be good to know if there is anything directly related to these items that may be facilitating stasis.
Also, can you explain what you are…[Read more]

It is difficult to make informed judgements based on brief descriptions. Can you provide some more information? Is she eating well? Is she pooping well? When there is a sound, do her ears respond normally?

I just got a Netherlandian dwarf bunny a couple weeks ago, and she’s still a baby. At first her ears did all kinds of motions like bunnies and rabbits do, but ever since this weekend it has seemed like she has kept her ears in the relaxed position on either side of her head, always. Is this normal? Is she just relaxed all the time, or could it s…[Read more]

Zimba is my 1 year old male rabbit. He had his first stasis in Feb. After giving him some leftover gut motility meds I had on hands, he was back to normal. We still went to see our exotic vet. X ray showed that his lungs were a bit hazy (he did have some occasional sneezes) and blood work showed his kidney values were border line high (him at 1.4… -

Yes, I am too. After the blood work and xray today I’m going to get a full record of her tests and will talk to the other vet no matter what and see what they think. I’ll update later when we have more info. Thanks again everyone!

I’m very sorry to hear about what you’re going through with your rabbit. At this point, veterinary assessment (likely imaging since it may be internal) would be my next step to get clarity on what exactly is going on. Her being perky and energetic now are great signs and argue against putting her to sleep, so getting a clear idea of what’s going…[Read more]
