Sounds like a good plan! I’m glad she found a home. đ I’m sure they will enjoy each others company as neighbors, even if they can’t be bonded.

Yes that sounds pretty normal, as long as the skin isn’t flaky or scaly.

If you aren’t sure and it’s a new bun, one way to check is to offer a handful of hay first. if the bun takes a piece, they are feeling fine. If they snub the hay, you can try a favorite green. If they turn that down, you can try a treat. If they turn down any of the food, they are not feeling well, and if they even turn down a treat you know they…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic should I screen for EC in Bun Jovi? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 2 months ago
Thank you! Yeah when I heard all the staff acting so surprised (and doubtful) that Bun Jovi was 13 it didn’t give me a great feeling. Like I know most rabbits don’t make it past 12, but it mostly indicates that the practice as a whole doesn’t see a lot of rabbits. IMO, having the technicians be experienced with buns is just as important as the vet!

I dont know what went wrong, I can’t find a post from you that needs moderator approval.
I fed my Vilde 5-6 times per day (no feedings during the night) when he was acutely ill, then when he was stable, I reduced to 3 feedings, then two.
If Owen gnaws on hard things like enclosure bars, he could’ve chipped a teeth. Rabbit teeth of course grow…[Read more]

Yes, sometimes they may get bald spots from molting. Could u show a picture of it? Does the skin look the same all around?

I have no experience with elder buns, but the vet saying 5 – 6 years is the average age would have been a red flag for me. My vet went into great detail how bins could easily live to 12 years and more, and that was being pushed by a better understanding on how to treat them.
Hope Bun Jovi is able to find good management for his pain and you find…[Read more]

Something went wrong there: I tried to say “thank you! 😘” and it suddenly became a post that had to be moderated first.

Tbh I don’t know what’s best, I can barely tell sugar from shite after a week like this 🤣
All I know is that I’m happy that he’s eating on his own ^_^

Update- thanks for your advice! I decided to take her and attempt bonding. Lots of territorial disputes despite being in a neutral space. I did small introductions for a few days, and it seemed like they weren’t making much progress. If she hadn’t been elderly, I would have continued small play dates every day because I know it’s not typical for…[Read more]

Hi everyone, My make bunny seems to be molting because his poops have been linked together and he has a V shape on his head. I have been brushing him everyday for a week straight, but now i went to go check his bottom back and he has a big bald spot, his skin is pink. Is this normal for molting?

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic switching pellets in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 2 months ago
Yes, I’d take it very slowly. I’d leave the pellets in their own bags, and add one of the new pellets to her bowl every day.
That’s how I switched our bunnies off junior pellets, and it went without a problem.

@Meg: that’s a very different number indeed! I was told to make the CC runny, so he’d get enough fluids. And then feed him little bits every 3-4 hours.

Search up âhunched bunny in painâ, the rabbit lady has a good photo. It can sometimes be mistaken for loafing so if your rabbit has other signs such as squinting itâs eyes, grinding itâs teeth, not wanting to move, I would call up a rabbit savvy vet to figure out whatâs going on. Has he been eating and pooping fine?

I didnât really get what you meant by the bags but I think oxbow has instructions on their bag as to how u can help transition. I would personally do it over the course of a month, mix about 10% new pellets with 90% old then next week 25% new with 75% old then the third week 50% new 50% old and the last week 75% new 25% old. Make sure to have an e…[Read more]

Thank you for the replies!
She seems to be doing a little better after two doses, massages, and getting her to move around a bit.I did not know meloxicam was hard on the tummy, just that it can cause issues to the kidneys. I will ask my vet about that. She is molting and unfortunately I havenât been able to groom her properly, just pluck at th…[Read more]
