Maybe you could contact Oxbow and ask? They used to be really great at getting back to customers’ e-mails. I dont know if that has changed, but it could perhaps be worth a try?

Desensitizing my bunny to fireworks sounds worked for me. I played fireworks sounds from YouTube at a low noise level till my bunny got used to it, then I upped the sound level to a more moderate-loud sound range (like a tv being on range) and he got used to that too. Last Fourth of July he didn’t even flinch at the actual fireworks going off o…[Read more]

I have been trying to purchase some Critical Care Fine Grind (the regular version wasn’t working for me.) No local stores around me sell it, and I can’t find any vet offices that will sell it. I purchased some online, but it had an expiration of only 6 months out. I’m trying to find any decent online seller of critical care fine grind where you’ll…[Read more]

Thanks Dana. The problem is that it takes a very long time for this to ever show up. When I posted this one, it still showed EDAdmin as the author, and when I logged out of binkybunny the post was not public/visible for many hours. 🙁

    Look into rescue remedy.

I do not know it’s use on rabbits, but it’s great for dogs and cats (and people).

Just to start this off I am working with a new vet soon so I just need some help from others with possible experience with things like this

I adopted my rabbit a couple years ago, she used to be a very happy, strong, and energetic bunny. She began having a problem with urinating on herself after about 5 months (couldve been because the litterbox…[Read more]

    Thanks for the feedback!

About the one leaf thing it’s just an estimate since I cut up my veggies, wouldn’t one leaf everyday for a week be equal to 2-3 leaves 2-3 times a week?

The way I feed dahlia is pretty similar to what DanaNM does, mostly just lettuces and herbs and then one high oxalate or high calcium veggie that makes up a really sma…[Read more]

Hello, it’s gonna be my first 4th of July with my bun bun and I was wondering how I could calm her down. She got pretty nervous during the New Years so I can only imagine the 4th of July. Is there some kind of natural herb or something I could give her to calm down?

I don’t have any pictures but i’ll definitely get some when it happens again. They will both be 3 months on July 1st. I’m not completely sure if it’s both, i’ll have to separate for a day to know for sure. It’s been happening every day for the past 2 or 3 days. I give them alfalfa and timothy pellets but more of the alfalfa (1/4 scoop for them to…[Read more]

They will both be 3 months on July 1st. I’m not sure if it’s both bunnies, i’ve been trying to keep an eye on both of their poops. I’ll have to separate for a day to be sure. I give them both alfalfa and timothy pellets (more alfalfa) and I give them timothy hay. I’ll sometimes give them alfalfa hay as a treat. I use the oxbow brand for all their…[Read more]

Yup, it means she really digs you 😉

I’m glad that she has an appointment scheduled, and I can imagine that you’re looking forward to it as well. Hormonal rabbits can get so crazy and very very pushy.

Our girl Molly was peeing and pooping everywhere too, but that wasn’t the worst. It was the constant humming and tooting sound that she made. It…[Read more]

Small poops, egg shaped poops, and mucous are indicative of gastric irritation, which could be due to a slow down. Are you sure they are coming from both rabbits?

I would keep encouraging lots of hay eating and limit treats and any sugary things you are feeding them. I agree that some info on their ages and diets would be helpful!

That looks like a very nice variety in a salad!

To my knowledge, collards are not actually high in oxalate (none of the cabbage family veggies are), just calcium, plus the gas issues you noted. The main ones to worry about oxalate in are spinach, parsley, chard, and beet tops. So you wouldn’t want to feed two of those veggies in the same…[Read more]

@Bam: I really had to laugh at your phrasing and showed it to Bas. Then he said: “That’s exactly what Molly did to me yesterday!” She started to spray urine and poop again now that Owen is unwell.

A litter screen is sometimes very helpful in preventing digging. Also a larger litterbox can also help, and, counter-intuitively, one with low sides too. While high-sides prevents litter from coming out, it sometimes serves as a bowl that just encourages the rabbit to dig and dig and dig since the litter just keeps falling back in.

To be safe, I’d just give 2-3 times a week. In actuality, giving just a leaf every day, especially if paired with proper hydration and hay eating, likely won’t do much, but we are not nutritionists nor veterinarians, so I at least cannot say anything definitively.

Can you provide some more specific details? This can include pictures too.

    • How old are your rabbits? Is it both of them, or just one having odd poops?
    • How often is this actually happening (e.g., every day, a couple times a month…)
    • What exactly is in their diet (name, brand, type) and what amounts are being presented of each?

    Since this…[Read more]
