Could they trade off with someone else so someone comes (at the very least) once per day? Twice a day would be ideal.

Happy July everyone and every bunny too!
I always think it’s weird Bunnies are considered exotics. And even though I absolutely love Fennec Foxes totally agree with you. The average pet owner is not set up to own a non-domesticated animal… I think a sadly large number can handle owning even a domestic one. Maybe just a bit cynical as I am…[Read more]

Her health and mobility are fine, I took her to the vet a month ago everything is okay. She tried to clean her bottom but the fur is already stained and the urine has dried so I need to help her. Good thing the urine isn’t in touch with her skin, only the fur is dirty. I’ve tried cleaning her with some soap and wet washcloth and the smell has gone…[Read more]

Congratulations on your new bun!
It is very common for very young buns to produce a surplus of soft poopies. If thepoop isnt runny or sticking to his butt and he’s gaining weight like he should, I dont think you need to cut back on pellets in any radical way. You could start mixing up his alfalfa hay with grass hay, so he gets into good hay…[Read more]

The other day Thumper chinned me! And, although she was really stressed, Blossom let me groom her and clip 3 or 4 nails today! Anyway I heard that Chinchilla’s and other exotic animals are going to be banned in the Netherlands in 2024; I don’t know if that includes rabbits or not but I feel kinda neutral. Like certain exotics (like a fennec fox)…[Read more]

Hello all!
I’ve gotten my second rabbit at 8 weeks old and he is a doll! Though I’ve come across an issue I have not seen before.
I feed unlimited oxbow young pellets and alfalfa hay, and my rabbits poop has been soft and smelly for almost two weeks now. I haven’t had this issue with my previous rabbit, I’m guessing I should start limitin…[Read more]

Thanks @DanaNM, good to know. She’s eating fine now thank goodness. Still a grumpy little bun and been stomping her foot at Dorian who is feeling amorous (he hasn’t tried to mount her or anything, but he is getting a bit carried away with grooming). She has very little patience when she’s in a mood. Almost feel bad for Dorian, but he is kinda…[Read more]

Thanks! Day 5 now, Day 6 if the first session counts, and they started circling last night, which completely freaked me out because I hadn’t seen them do that yet. It probably lasted for at least 5-10 seconds before I yelled at them and they stopped. On a positive note, the chasing and nipping seems to have slowed down, but still pretty present…[Read more]

I agree that it sounds like there could be a medical issue that’s causing her to get urine on her, such as a UTI.
Staining will go away in time, the main thing is to make sure her skin isn’t in contact with wet urine as this can cause scalding.
She may benefit from a”sanitary shave” that the vet can help with.

Hi there, welcome!
Can you describe her full diet and housing situation in detail? It’s likely she is filling up on “junk food” and not wanting to eat her hay for that reason. She really shouldn’t be in contact with chicken feed because that could make her sick and overweight over time. The rabbit digestive tract works best with lots and lots of…[Read more]

The litter box habits may return, but they may not if the parasite has damaged her nervous system and kidneys too much.
There are some great tips for dealing with this on the disabled rabbits website (http://www.disabledrabbits.com/)
One thing I recently did for my senior who’s box habits had gotten worse was I lined his pen with washable pee…[Read more]

Every other day is not often enough. When a rabbit gets a health issue (such as not eating), it can become life threatening within 24 hours (the first 6-12 hours after the problem starts are critical). Also if she ran out of hay or water (although that sounds like it’d be unlikely with the waterfall!) there would be no one there to refill it for…[Read more]

I’m glad she perked up!
For future reference, my personal rule of thumb for when to syringe feed after a vet trip or some other stressful experience is if they haven’t perked up by dinner for their salad I syringe feed. They may not be happy about it but usually just getting that little bit of calories and fluids into them helps them start…[Read more]
