Yep, I think I just replied to this same question in the other thread. I don’t use a grid but I do use a screen. Make sure the grid isn’t hard on her feet, as it can lead to hock issues and also discourage her from using the box.
At the rescue I volunteered at, they only used hay as litter. We would add a bunch of hay to the litter box and fluff…[Read more]

Peeing on the hay is normal. They will pick through and find good pieces. I usually offer hay in a rack as well as in the box to make sure they always have some clean hay available.
I do a layer of bedding (either carefresh or pine pellets), and then a layer of hay on top. When I used carefresh I didn’t full cover all the litter with hay, I would…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Sneezing while eating pellets- should I be concerned? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Sometimes buns will get some hay dust in their nose and start sneezing, so I’m guessing that was what happened in this case. Of course I didn’t see what happened, but from your description this doesn’t sound like a choking incident.

I got my bunnies new toys and when I got home I saw that there was fir in it. It’s the oxbow shake rattle and roll toy. Is it safe to give them?

Thanks Dana, that’s one worry out the window.
first date:
I blocked off a corner in the dining area, completely neutral to both buns. I don’t think it went very well and honestly it stressed me out so I kept it to about 10/15 mins.
they sniffed around a bit and then Freya lunged at Tyb and growled when I pushed her head away. They were exp…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Long term Meloxicam/ Metacam/ Tremadol in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 1 month ago
I had a bun who was on long term high-dose meloxicam. I gave it together with ranitidine, later pepcid when raditidine was withdrawn. This was to avoid gastric ulceration, which is a concern with long term meloxicam.
My bun seemed fine on his daily meloxicam.
We currently have a member whose bun Teddy is on long term high dose meloxicam together…[Read more]

Does anyone have a bunny on long term Meloxicam, Metacam or Tremadol?
Did your buns experience any side effects? If yes what were they?
Thanks

From what I can see, the UK brand Protexin has launched a few products in Australia (my guess is that’s why your domestic Protexin has changed its name to Pron8ure). They dont seem to have launched any of their rabbit-specific products in Australia, though, but maybe they will? You could perhaps e-mail them and ask? It seems Synbiotic D-C is…[Read more]

Awesome. Is there a website you buy yours from? I want to see if they will ship to Australia.
I don’t have an issue giving it to her because that’s the only thing she is getting apart from hay and grass. She gets max 3ml a day. All pellets and veggies seem to make her tummy upset.
It’s like her treat at the moment. Poor thing I feel so bad for…[Read more]

I use Protexin, but it doesnt seem to be the same Protexin as in Australia (which is now Pron8ure). The one’s I have contain a strain of saccaromyces cerevisiae (brewer’s yeast) which occurs naturally in the healthy rabbit gut.
I also have capsules with enterococcus faecium, which I can see that Pron8ture probiotics also contain. It is a…[Read more]

That is very good! It doesnt look like hia wye is leaking on your picture. I’d try to clean it gently with a wet piece of fabric (lukewarm water). It is a bit weird, but it seems more like sth to keep an eye on than an emergency.

Thank you for the response.
It says it’s oil based, not entirely oil.
Can I ask which probiotics you use?

Yes, you absolutely couldn’t have known. I do understand your feelings, though. Bunnies are so wonderful and perfect, it really feels like they deserve *perfect* care, like the kind that an omniscient, omnipotent caregiver could provide. And while I understand on an abstract level that I’m only human, honestly that do…[Read more]

Hey everyone! My rabbit was eating his pellets tonight and had a sneezing fit. He sneezed about 5-6 times while eating his pellets and then jumped out of his cage. I checked on him and he seemed fine. He ran over to the corner that he usually lays in and flopped over. He didn’t appear to be struggling at all. I offered him a treat after and he a…[Read more]
