I would put down large rugs. I understand you may not want that due to the pee/clean-up, but the traction will make movement easier and therefore doing things like jumping in the litterbox will then be much easier. Also, I’d try a bigger litterbox. Perhaps one that would fit that entire empty area to the left of that ziplock bag/container thing.

If your concern stems from dental health, as long as they are eating a healthy amount of hay, you do not need to worry about a lack of wood chewing!

Apple twigs are the favorite here. I ask people that prune there trees in the winter if I can have the twigs (they just go to composting otherwise). (Important that the trees arent treated with pesticides though).

Ive never tried to flavor wood. Boil pieces in apple juice perhaps? Seems a bit wasteful though.

Have you tried fresher woods? I.e newly picked branches and twigs? Willow sticks and leaves are a massive hit with my two, the fresher the better 😊 they will sometimes ignore old dried willow but go crazy for fresher sticks.

Sorry I don’t really have any helpful thoughts on which is the best decision, just wanted to add that in regards to his long fur and poop occasionally getting stuck, you can very carefully trim his fur short in that area which will help him stay clean until you’re home again for a visit and can trim him again.

I also very well may decide to bring him to school with me after a few semesters if I feel like he is not doing well at home without me, but I want to focus on my transition to grad school without having to worry about him going into another serious episode of stasis. I think it was a combination of everything that caused the stasis. I was gone all day in class, there was noise from our upstairs neighbors, and he had to be in a confined area since he would tear up the carpet and chew on the baseboards in my apartment. Question – You said he lived in an apartment with you before and he was doing good. Are you sure the move back to your apartment is what caused the stasis episode? Or could it be a coincidence? I assume you will be living somewhere else since this is grad school instead of undergrad. Perhaps you can find a less noisy apartment?

What type of wood do you give him? Different types of woods have different flavors so you might just not hav3 found the right type of rabbit safe wood that they like
