Hello, my bun had perfect poops. What does it mean if they are all different sizes sometimes? Like she goes from the same size to different sizes some days and her diet doesn’t really change. She gets more types of hay and pellets that’s it. Why could it be like that?

My bun can’t have veggies at all. She has very sensitive stomach so her diet consist of hay, pellets and some dried herbs and flowers. She is a happy bunny.

Hi I have 1 surviving bunny left out of mom dad older sister and 5 babies (7 weeks old) last surviving baby is still eating and drinking and active. Any ideas what could have gone wrong?

If a bun doesnt eat for 6-12 hours, I’d contact a vet. I’d start by giving simethicone baby gas drops, 0.5 -1 ml per hour for 2-3 hours. I”d also try to make the bun move around. Moving around can help gas escape.

The teeth are even in lengths and shape, I cant say if the lower incisors are too long, but they have a good color and shape.…[Read more]

    Hi,

My rabbit hasn’t eaten anything today (it is already 9pm) and seems very sluggish. She has stayed under the bed for the whole day and when I went to check on her, I saw that she was lying down with her mouth wide open and her teeth exposed. I’ve never seen her rest like that before and when I went to take a closer look, I realized that her…[Read more]

A tiny piece of ovary may be difficult to pick up on a scan, so hopefully the blood tests give you some answers.

Update: today we did an intake, we saw a specialist, and they did an abdominal echo under sedation. The echo didn’t show any tumors or oddities in her abdomen, nor problems with her spay 🥳

That means that we’re going in for a second round of tests somewhere within 2 weeks. They’re going to do an extensive screening of the hormone levels in her…[Read more]

Eyes are not shut when “dead”, even with humans.

It’s not appropriate to “smack” a rabbit in the head so I would not try and interpret what’s going on in such a video in the first place.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support and guidance on this forum. Fingers crossed that the vet doesn’t find any heart damage tomorrow.

I had no idea the USA don’t have wild hedgehogs. They’re red listed, so it’s lovely that they seem to like it in the garden.

Today is Snoa’s Gotcha Day! Or rather, her Foster Day, because we didnt actually adopt her until a few weeks later. She  “celebrated” by getting her yearly vaccine jab. It protects against myxo, RVHD1 and 2. She weighs…[Read more]

I agree, it doesnt seem much point to do a CT. The brain lesions caused by EC are as a rule microscopic and treatment would be the same as now regardless.

It sounds good that you got meloxicam. We have a long standing member whose bun has EC of the kidneys since he was quite young. He gets meloxicam and fenbendazole when he has flare-ups. Keep in…[Read more]

i saw in a video a bunny got smacked in the head and he just ‘dropped dead’

with eyes still wide open though, but after a few minute he was up and running again.

what kind of behavior is this? isn’t faking dead usually with eyes closed?

Yes, definitely not normal. Something is wrong. If it isn’t a litter box issue, then it could be a UTI or EC-related incontinence as Bam said. I would have him assessed by a vet. In the meantime, yes, you do a sanitary shave to keep things drier back there.

Yes, regular mint varieties are just fine to feed. Bunnies seem to like the “fragrant” herbs. And as Bam said, they are great for drying to have year round too.

I ended up having to take him to the animal emergency last night because he developed weakness on his right side and kept falling over. Thank god they had an exotic animal vet there. She said he definitely experienced a seizure but they don’t want to put him on medication yet. She wanted to do a CT scan which I declined because they said they w…[Read more]
