That’s great! Some rescues are really good at helping find good matches. š

Oh no š I’m so sorry to hear this. š An 8 week old bunny really is so fragile… they did everything they could to give him a fighting chance.
Sending hugs to Buster’s humans. And it was very kind of you OP to help them out by coming to the forum.

We don’t have a kitchen scale. I’ll see what the bathroom scale gives me and post it here, see if it seems accurate. I’ll see what the vets get for her weight during her checkup, but that’s not until December-January-ish

We have one shelter about an hour away that sometimes has rabbits. I can put in an adoption application and see if they have anybody who would be a good fit in our household

Iām glad they are back to eating hay 😊

Ah I see! Well will likely enjoy having a friend then. Even rabbits who have never been bonded usually are happier with company. I would look for a neutered male, that usually tends to be the easiest pairing.
Many rescues will allow you to do “foster to adopt” for bonding, so you could ask around and see if that’s an option. Or as you said, you…[Read more]

Great insight Glenn!
And you’re welcome Carolyn!
For side by side housing, it is important that they can’t nip through the bars. You can accomplish this by either having a double-walled barrier with 4-6 inches between the walls (since Toast is so tiny I would make the barrier zone larger in case she sticks her nose farther through), or by using…[Read more]

Some people like to weigh their buns using a kitchen scale. Most times bathroom scales for humans aren’t quite accurate enough, but you could give it a shot?
Sounds like her set up is great. š

Maybe you could leave out a very shallow water bowl/bowls with only a little water in them? It is important that he can drink if he wants to. Hopefully he’s feeling better now and is less disoriented.
Asfor how much fluids to give him by mouth, its a bit difficult to say. A healthy rabbit needs about 100 ml water per day and kilo body weight. A…[Read more]

It is good that the gut is moving, I was worried that it moved too much (true diarrhoea) so that he’d lose a lot of fluids rapidly.
It’s wonderful that he ate a little hay 🥰

Just to chime im about the whimpering, it is a somewhat normal behaviour from a female that is really sick of being mounted by a male. My boy is a serial mounter during ths bonding process and has successfully made all three of the girls I’ve had make this sound out of frustration. Its her way of telling the male to stop.
If I hear this sound I…[Read more]

His new habitat is almost ready. It would have been ready today but the cement I used to block some holes to stop the mice from getting in is still wet and it should have dried by now. I may have added to much water to the mix so I’ll have to re-do it all after work or tomorrow unless I work flat out tonight to get it done for him. I checked his…[Read more]

She definitely isn’t a large bunny. I read that they should weigh about 4 pounds, I think she’s around that weight. Would it be accurate to weigh myself holding her, then just myself, and do the math? Or would that be a bit off since she’s so small compared to me? Her hip bones are definitely not sharp, and not visible, but you can feel them

I love that name, Bun Jovi! That’s awesome!
I would love another rabbit, but I’m not sure I could have 2 single buns. Would it be mean to do a trial run of sorts with a bunny in need of rehoming? (I would likely be getting it from an old owner, we don’t have any nearby shelters that keep bunnies “in stock”) Or have some sort of backup home, just…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your response!! And your words were so sweet and nicely worded that I reread it a couple times lol.
(I want my bunnies to be as cute as your bunnies in your icon! Lol)
I’ve had Toast about 3 weeks, and I’ve been doing pre-bonding for about half of that. (Albeit maybe not doing as much as I should)
I see! A larger space is…[Read more]

Mucus just means there is inflammation in the intestines. Not a surprise considering the diagnosis. The vet is correct in that in means the gut is moving. His body is trying to expel what is causing the inflammation.
