It really depends on where you live. Some states do not have very strict laws when it comes to pets, particularly small animals like rabbits. A lot of times, as long as the animals has food and water, there isn’t much animal control can do when suspected neglect is reported.

Sadly, I don’t think there is much you can do to prevent her from…[Read more]

There are variations of the Full Cheeks litter — in my personal experience from rabbit boarding when an owner provided the Full Cheeks Fresh Linen Scent, the scent was very strong and all 4 rabbits who were exposed to the litter were all very tempted to eat it constantly. From this, I would say stay clear of any of their scented products. The…[Read more]

So… the clarify… are these fur mites? Or do we not know what they are? I would think it would take longer than a week for symptoms of a fur mite infestation to be noticeable. You are suspicious of the hay, so I wonder if they are something else like itch mites.

Hey everyone!!! It’s been a while since I last posted. Hope everyone’s well!!!!!!

As I was about to purchase Carefresh litter from Petsmart, I noticed a cheaper, better-valued alternative; “Full Cheeks”.

I know that this is Petsmart’s store brand, and is the new name for the “All Living Things” brand (I think???). Since the whole brand is…[Read more]

Wild rabbits are known for attacking intruders. They will even go after snakes that get too close to their burrow.

I agree with DanaNM to not do anything until you actually have your rabbits seen by a vet — in general, the spray treatments are not effective and there are reports of them actually being irritating for rabbit skin, further aggravating skin distress rather than just treating the infestation. Here is a web-page with information on what are more…[Read more]

Plumped CuddlyBunnies, he could perhaps be mad with sexual desire? My bridge bun Bam displayed similar behavior directed at my dog. He was totally obsessed. She was not happy. It stopped after I had him neutered.

I just looked up that product because I wasn’t familiar with it. It contains permethrin, which can be used on rabbits, but it can cause some serious side effects if not dosed correctly. It tends to only be used in situations where the benefits outweigh the risks (such as to repel mosquitos in areas with Myxo).

    Personally… I would probably just…[Read more]

This is very stressful, I’m sorry you are having to deal with this.

Sadly I agree that you probably cannot prevent her from getting one, but you may be able to help her take better care of it if she does. She also may just be saying she will get one and not actually go through with it… so hopefully that’s the case.

Sometimes it helps to start…[Read more]

Well I’ve never seen my male bunny so worked up. I went out to feed him and top up his water bowl and he went crazy started jumping up at me biting running circles around me biting at my shoes and legs trying to jump up at me. At one point I had to shake him off my leg. He is now stamping his back foot constantly running around outside like a…[Read more]

That actually makes sense that she might have done it out of territorial instincts or fear. Thank you for replying

Yes as far as i know my rabbit looks fine and doesn’t show any signs of illness except that she keeps growling when I or my mom go near her litter box. Maybe she’s still a bit nervous? Regardless, she’s still eating and drinking normally

If your bun killed this lizard, she probably perceived the lizard as an intruder. Rabbits don’t kill for meat, but they are highly territorial, especially girl rabbits. A long time ago, we had a member here whose rabbit chased insects and killed them. Insects made him really upset and he fiercely took them on. He was an orphaned Cottontail rabbit…[Read more]

This morning when I woke up and came to refill my bunny’s hay, I found a dead lizard near her litter box. It looked like it had been viciously attacked.

I remembered that last night my bunny had been eating something off the floor but I hadn’t investigated at that time because I was carrying some green leafy veggies in my arms from the fridge to…[Read more]

Glad to hear that you seem to be on the right path.  Hugs to Molly.  Nice that you found more competent vets.

Many, many years ago we had a ferret experiencing serious symptoms.  Vet said, I don’t know, handed her back and she continued screaming in pain, back of head touching her back, she was a U.

We were at a total loss and simply had to OD…[Read more]

Yes, if she gets another, contact your local animal control and tell them you suspect abuse.  Depending on where you live, it might help, it might not, but it’s really all you can do.
