So… the clarify… are these fur mites? Or do we not know what they are? I would think it would take longer than a week for symptoms of a fur mite infestation to be noticeable. You are suspicious of the hay, so I wonder if they are something else like itch mites.

Wild rabbits are known for attacking intruders. They will even go after snakes that get too close to their burrow.

I agree with DanaNM to not do anything until you actually have your rabbits seen by a vet — in general, the spray treatments are not effective and there are reports of them actually being irritating for rabbit skin, further aggravating skin distress rather than just treating the infestation. I just looked up that product because I wasn’t familiar with it. It contains permethrin, which can be used on rabbits, but it can cause some serious side effects if not dosed correctly. Yes as far as i know my rabbit looks fine and doesn’t show any signs of illness except that she keeps growling when I or my mom go near her litter box. Maybe she’s still a bit nervous? Regardless, she’s still eating and drinking normally
