Hmm… how long were the courses of Fenbendazole? What was the dosage?
It is important to keep in mind that there is NO correlation with EC counts in the blood and symptoms (or lack there of). A rabbit with extremely high levels can be asymptomatic and a rabbit with low levels can have severe symptoms… or all variations in between. In other…[Read more]

I can’t say for sure what angry and irritated would look like, red means irritated to me, but perhaps not angry?
I have seen sudocrem recommended and discussed here (which has zinc oxide), so are we saying that’s not good? I appreciate the other suggestions, but both would be very difficult to manage right now. She has had other issues with…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I have had my rabbit Buddy for almost a year now. He is about a year old Netherland Dwarf and has been having seizures for about 5 months now. We noticed that he started having seizures so we brought him to our regular vet who then suggested we go to an animal exotics vet that is more specialized in rabbits. At the exotics vet they…[Read more]

Creams containing zinc oxide are not recommended because a bunny could potentially ingest it (by licking). Ointment has to be reapplied regularly, so a bunny could potentially ingest enough cause zinc poisoning. This is why it is best to avoid any creams that contain zinc oxide.
Can you provide us with more information? You said your bunny’s…[Read more]

I bought some Desitin because it’s similar to Sudocrem, then read something about zinc being toxic and got scared and didn’t use it and have been using A&D rash ointment, but it doesn’t seem to be helping much.
I think maybe I overreacted on my concerns of the zinc oxide content, but want to check here before giving it a try.
The hocks are red…[Read more]

I dont think you need to think about it much for now. You have a vet appt on Jan 6, you don’t need to do anything differently until then.
A pregnant doe will want to eat a bit more, but rabbits as a rule always want to eat a bit more than we give them, so that’s not a sure sign. The doe might stop eating when the birth is drawing near. Normal…[Read more]

Yes, fingers crossed that no kits pop out because what if my cats think they were snacks. They hang with my pigs with no problems. But they are predictors or supposed to be. I I’m just gonna stop thinking about it.

Haha, bunny testicles do have a special look! People can be frightened at the first glimpse of them, especially if they (like you) were told they had a girl bun. I remember one instance when the bun owner feared her young female bun had developed some sort of tumors 😦 They weren’t tumors 😃
If your bun isnt pregnant and you get both buns fixed,…[Read more]

Hmm, does she have a dewlap that could make it harder for her to clean herself?
Is the wet area on her belly persistent? I’m wondering if she just had a urine accident and laid in it, or if there’s a more persistent problem. In any case, if she is eating normally and behaving normally I don’t think this is an emergency, so it would be OK to…[Read more]

gretchen was 4-5 months when i started fostering. No, this dude had big balls. both of the fosters did. When I pulled them apart from each other and checked the damages, I clearly could tell they were boys and I am not a bunny person. I do admit I was confused about the anatomy. Things were hanging opposite direction. and they have this weird long…[Read more]

Very good point about the mites becoming immune, especially for how long I’ve been giving it. He has his vet appointment on Tuesday morning, I’ll inquire about getting something else to use. Thank you everyone. Will update on Tuesday.

Hi there! My almost 9 year old cream colored rabbit has a yellowed stain on her chest right below her neck. Her paws are always a little slightly stained because they’re white but not bad at all…. But I noticed her chest today, of course on Christmas Eve where I can’t call the vet… so I’m worried.
She does NOT have any nasal discharge nor is sh…[Read more] - Load More
