Is his mouth wet ? Like drooling ? Maybe he’s feeling off . I would take him to the vet so they can check his teeth . Is he eating hay at least ? Water ?

After reading about molting, it did say that after the molt, the fur starts returning through the bare skin.  And the molting has been going on for perhaps 2 weeks. So I’m guessing that you’re right.

He’s a Holland lop, I think they’re normal haired? I use a fine tooth comb to brush him. He seemed a little more tolerant earlier and I brushed him for a good 20 minutes.

The spot on the crown of his head almost looks like patches of new fur growing in.

You can only do so much. If he is normal-haired, i e not an angora or lion head or similar, you could use a lint roller on him. If you ruffle his fur first, then lint roll, you’re likely to get quite a bit of hair off of him.

If the doesnt accept that you can wet your hands and pet him. A lot of loose fur will stick to your wet hands.

I think he might be. Every time I pet him I get a handful of fur when I pull my hand away. I’ve been brushing him as much as I can, but he doesn’t tolerate it very well.

Is he molting? Molting can cause the bun to ingest more hair (as the bun grooms itself). This can lead to “beads-on-a-string” poop.

Misshapen poop can mean a slight gut slowdown, which is common during a heavy molt. It can also be a result of a dietary change. Even a smallish change in diet can affect the gut.

Well arthritis can make moving uncomfortable, leading to sloppier eating/cleaning in that area, so smearing isn’t necessarily defining a diagnosis at this point.

I guess that just proves even more that there’s something internal going on, because I keep flipping back and forth between EC and arthritis.

He’s never molted before.  Which is why the bare spots seemed weird to us.  BUt I suppose he could be molting for the first time now.

He’s our only rabbit. So he’s not being groomed by another one.

As for the whitish spot, it’s not a scab and not raised.

We have a vet appointment on Monday.  So we’ll see what they say.

I am currently on an extremely tight budget. I use the pine pellets, but additionally, I use junk mail and flyers (non-coated) which helps save even more, and if someone is trying to steal your paper info, soaked in urine should be more deterrent.
