Thank you so much for your insight! That is so funny you mentioned felting your bunny’s fur… my mom was recently doing that with her cat’s fur! haha.

But thank you for your help!

I don’t know the reason for the cecal dysbiosis, she’s only on hay and water i don’t see what could possibly disturb her stomach. She’s cleaning herself like a freak.

If she’s been having more wet poos due to the cecal dysbiosis, it could be from that. With my Fable, she became inflamed down there as a consequence of all her gut stuff and the constant wet poo/grooming she’d do down there.

I wouldnt consider gypsum safe. As Katydid says, it’s not toxic, but it wouldnt be good if he ingested it. If it’s a pretty toy maybe you could just use it as a decoration, out of your bun’s reach?

Hi, I suppose with your boy you mean your bunny 🙂 I wouldn’t give it to the bunny. I only did a quick search but both the gypsum and the paint might be harmful to the rabbit. Gypsum is not deadly to rabbits but it might cause trouble if they ingest it, and there is always a risk that the rabbit will chew on it. The best material for toys is wood,…[Read more]

No, no straining at all. She acts perfectly fine eating drinking running around, no signs of pain. I stopped giving her pellets she’s only on hay now, i suppose that should stop the cecal dysbiosis. I picked her up this morning it looks much better than yesterday but it still looks a little bit swollen maybe from all the pooping and licking the…[Read more]

I suppose if she is messing with the area a lot, it could become irritated. You could try to clean it up, but messing with it too much is just going to irritate it more. Have you noticed any incontinence or straining to pee? Sometimes a UTI will manifest as genital irritation.

Hi, I am looking for a DIY border for the territory of our two bunnies. Our two bunnies have been successfully free roaming in our living room… We removed the pen but that means that now there is hay in every corner of the room! I would like to make them a small enclosed space where they could play with their toys stuffed with hay. It would have…[Read more]

Hi, i don’t know whats going on with my rabbit’s vagina/anus (i can’t spot the difference) but it doesn’t look the way it looked. I need to mention that she had cecal dysbiosis for a few days (i don’t know the reason for that, nothing changed in her diet) and she’s been cleaning herself a lot down there and pulling her fur. I’m really scared i…[Read more]

Hi all! First time posting here – I’m also a new bunny mom. Apologies if I get a little wordy!! I got my little one (his name is Buttons) about 2 weeks ago and he’s about 10/11 weeks old.

We have made a lot of progress in those two weeks! His litter training is going well, and he’s settled in quite fast I think. I started opening up my room for f…[Read more]

It’s possible it’s the new smelling object. It also could be because you aren’t spending as much floor time with her. Do you still sit on the floor with her while she’s out?

I’m curious, how old is she, and is she spayed? Some of the behaviors you mention sound like hormonal teenage bunny behaviors, so I’m wondering if it could actually just be…[Read more]

    Wonderful news!

With rabbits is considered a good thing when they fight their meds, with the exception of buns that are on really long term meds. (I had a bun that was on life-long medication, he actually came hopping into the kitchen when he heard I was prepping his meds 😄) But for short-time medication like in your case, a feisty bun is a bun…[Read more]

Here are some methods to demonstrate medicating techniques: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Medicating_your_rabbit#Oral_medication

The more regular and successful you are with it, the more the rabbit begins to settle into it. No rabbit will enjoy it if they don’t inherently enjoy the medication, but over time, they’ll become desensitized. Keep trying!

    Update on Nala:

She has finished her pain meds and continues to take her antibiotic/probiotic. She does NOT like taking her meds. They are liquid via syringe and I am struggling to administer them to her. She is back to her fiesty self making it extremely difficult to administer her medication I tried tricking her by putting it in food but she…[Read more]

It sounds like the antibiotic and pain meds kicked in and she’s starting to feel better. You did good taking her to the emergency vet. She definitely needed help.
