Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate it. I will be calling my vet tomorrow, they’re closed on weekends. I had him there at the end of December at the start of all this, and I asked if it could be EC and he didn’t think so at all. Now maybe it happened secondary from fighting the ear infection/respiratory infection that he started wi…[Read more]

I agree this looks like a bit more than “just” the typical cataracts you see in (virtually all) aging pets.
There would be little harm in treating for ec. A very rare side effect is bone marrow suppression. I recently chatted with one of our old forum members who’s bun got bone marrow suppression during treatment with a bendazole. For this bun it…[Read more]

Hmm… just looking at the photo, I’d say that is more than just old age. Cataracts caused by age tend to be the posterior kind. Have you had his eye pressure checked? Cataracts like that can lead to glaucoma.

Thank you so much DanaNM and LBJ10 for both of your replies. I am aware of EC related ones but I am certain he was like this way before symptoms started, perhaps years? They didn’t change quickly, I totally missed it because I didn’t know that’s what would make his eyes look that way until I started doing some research. I usually feel like I’…[Read more]

Probably what is sometimes referred to as a “head binky”.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Are pure timothy hay pellets okay for rabbits? in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 3 months ago
I think they are fine to give. However, like the others have said, I don’t really see the need. His regular pellets can be “treats” if you split up his daily ration and feed some of it to him by hand.

Not being able to see can definitely make them confused. They might go toward your shadow on the floor, for example, instead of toward you. Cataracts can be due to age or EC. Typically, the difference is age-related cataracts develop slowly over time. EC cataracts develop quickly.

If he’s so young, I think he’s just enjoying being young and happy! All young animals need exercise to develop their muscles and quick reflexes and speed. They do that by playing and its very good for them 😃
He might go through a little fearful period when he hits puberty -it’s known as the spook age. During that period a bun (or pup) can be…[Read more]

Yea he is pretty young ( 3 months)
hard to explain what he does but is not a full binky when I call him he moves his head from side to side really quick as some dogs do when they want to play “tag” that’s the best way I can explain it lol.
and sometimes instead of moving his head he starts running from side to side as if he were having zoomies.

Is your rabbit young? I’m not quite sure I understand exactly how you mean, but it sounds like a young rabbit using its repertoire of clever jumping. A binky is typically a turn or half turn in the air, but I often see my girl bun make sideways leaps.
Rabbits and hares are extremely good at changing their track by jumping sideways. Its a very…[Read more]

Sounds like it’s probably a binky 🙂
When rabbits run out of fear they usually bolt to a hiding spot or panic and crash into things. 🙁
