Ugh those face nips are so stressful! Bonnie does that to Myra. It’s can be hard to prevent without preventing any and all interaction.

If he is eating and pooping it is very unlikely to be true bloat so I wouldn’t panic. It sounds more like he has some gas. Is he showing signs of pain? Do his poops look normal?

I would talk to your vet, they may recommend giving him a hay-only diet for a bit to get him back on track.

At 75 F they were prob a bit uncomfortable but wouldn’t be at risk of heat stroke until over 85 F. Giving them a fan helps a lot as it helps their natural cooling mechanisms (their ears) work better. One thing I like to do if the my buns seem overly warm is to dampen their ears lightly to create some evaporative cooling.

Hi all.  I tried to find a previous post I had made in regards to our rabbit.  We recently had two but now only have 1.  We were given really bad advice by the vet we previously had went to.  I can explain in further detail if anyone is interested in helping us.

So as of right now we are left with the original rabbit we purchased in 202…[Read more]

Hello, coming here for some opinions and help.

My bun had ear infection treated with antibiotics for like 13 days. Symptoms were that she held her ear down, shaked her head a lot and scratched the ear.

It started really improving since day 10 on antibiotics. She is now out of antibiotics for more than two weeks and it still seems its improving.…[Read more]

It’s both eyes but it’s more prominent in the left and I never thought of that, he could be but they’re like that all the time for months now. The squinty part just started mid-late last month (April). Could that still mean he’s comfy/happy/content?

    Hi y’all.

I am new to caring for rabbits and have found myself in an interesting situation. We bought a property that had some feral meat rabbits that had been breeding. It looks like the Doe and Buck had 3 litters as there are 3 different size/age bunnies. I have set live traps to catch them and so far have caught 2 of the youngest and 1 of the…[Read more]

Sigh, it has been never-ending with issues with my bunny lately.

After his tooth filing, it took 3.5 weeks for my bunny to get back to his “normal” eating habits. That meant he was on a diet of pure Critical Care for 3.5 weeks + the 1 week prior (he needed to see the vet and get booked for the procedure.) During this time, he ate some hay on his…[Read more]

Ah, I see. Is this both eyes or just one? My bunny will relax his “eyebrows” when he is eating, etc. I guess he doesn’t feel he needs to be on high alert. Could it just be that your bunny is feeling comfortable?

Sorry about that, I did the best I could since if I use flash he’ll squint/close his eyes. But anyway, the top of his eye is kinda drooping down (if that makes sense) and slightly squinty (usually when he eats) but there’s no drool and he’s eating and drinking perfectly fine.

Sorry for making a thread so quickly after the other one but the other day it got really hot in my room (over 75°f/23.89°c) even with the AC on and the bunnies ears were a bit warm and they were lethargic so I gave them ice water, turned off my light, turned the fan on (not directly on them) and shut my door to cool it down some. Luckily that w…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Rabbit selective eating hay after Gut stasis in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years, 1 month ago

One possible reason could be that he doesnt feel like his normal self just yet. Is he eating other food?

The teeth look even, but sort of “leaning” sideways? That could be just the picture though. Did you see a vet for his stasis?

Rabbits chew hay with their molars (inner teeth). We cant see those teeth without an otoscope. Rabbits use their…[Read more]

My 5 month old holland lop is recovering from gut stasis now, today is day 3 of recovery

however, he is only eating the soft leaves of the hay and refuses to eat the stalks

What are the possible reasons for this? does he have a dental disease? This is his teeth

After years of DIY borders and “containment booms” I’ve just resigned to living in a barn. Our buns are in the lower level of the house which we use as our living space so the main entertaining area is hay and dust free at least. We spread a large fleece blanket over the litter box area which helps to a limited extent. Even when we had a barrier…[Read more]

Does anyone recognize this exact toy? After trying dozens of fling and block toys, this is the only one they ever cared for but I can’t find it for sale anywhere and I’m not sure where it came from—the adoption agency sent us home with it years ago and all that’s left is a little stub of wood. Yet, in a sea of mostly ignored blocks, they chew on t…[Read more]
